TBT: Super Buck for Arnold Poole in 1987 and his hunting party. Arnold's hunting party with Doug and Derrick Man and Kurt Schriener helped push this buck out of a patch of timber known as "Old Reliable". This buck ran out 15 feet past Arnold with one shot he stoped this Boone and Crockett right in his tracks. This buck had a tremendous gross typical score of 195 7/8 inches.

THROW BACK THURSDAY: A 229 2/8 inch Saskatchewan Giant, the story of which is a heart warming old tale of just how loyal a good group of buddies were for Brad Jackle. Brad spent alot of time through the early season glassing up this giant buck and figuring him out to get a good chance at taking him in a busy area. As hard as he hunted, Brad just couldn't make it happen. However, a large group of his hunting buddies had close encounters with this deer but didn’t pull the trigger as they knew how hard Brad had worked for him. Instead, they let him know where the deer ran and by working together, Brad finally made it count on an unreal, once in many lifetimes hall of famer.

We all have similar stories and they remind us what we love about what we do and that we belong to such a great group of people in the outdoors helping each other out. For example, I have holes in my collection of Big Buck magazines and a fellow fan reached out and donated some of the original years of the magazine. Can't thank Daryl Dean enough for helping me out and allowing us to provide more old stories to our fan page.

Big Buck's TBT: November 21, 1987, found Greg Brataschuk and his father, Pete, heading to a favorite Whitetail spot. Pete was just along for the ride as he hadn't bought a tag, while Greg was after a good doe for meat. The first deer they spotted was a big fat doe. Greg emptied his gun at the doe but couldn't hit his mark. It might of been the best miss of his life. The pair traveled three miles to another area and the second deer of the morning happened to be this monster Saskatchewan buck. With a shot to the heart Greg made quick work of this 259" giant!

Sure. “30 years ago Milo and his amazing whitetail graced this cover of Big Buck Magazine. 20 years later in the summer 2014 issue we featured a look back with Milo at the hunt and all the events that surrounded his tenure as the world record holder. Mr. Hansen has been a gracious and generous title keeper. The whitetail community could have done no better than to have Milo and his buck at the pinnacle of the record book. On behalf of all deer hunters we want to thank Milo for his service to date, and hope everyone gets a chance to someday see his incredible buck in person. The three decades he spent as caretaker of the most famous buck of them all, were very well spent.”

After following this buck in early morning for 2 hours Nov 21st Nathan Harkins was able to close the distance and make the most of it in SE Saskatchewan on this Heavy Character 5 x 4 with all the mass and character to go with it . Congrats !

Big Buck's throwback Thursday: Brad Deptuck of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, took this 13-point whitetail near Big River, Saskatchewan, back in 1991. The inside spread on this deer is 24 1/8 inches. This dandy grosses 191 1/8 and nets 179 6/8 typical points.
