I always thought that I would have to get lucky on a trip to a far-off place like Iceland or Alaska to see the Aurora Borealis. But I didn't even have to leave the state! So thankful I got to share it with Sydney and Smith, even though he lost interest after a few minutes. We didn't have a plan because it was last-minute and I didn't get home until 11:30 from a soccer tournament. I had heard that they aren't as bright as what you see in pictures, so after we had driven north for a while, we weren't sure if what we were seeing was actually the northern lights or just light pollution. We stopped on a country road and realized we were actually seeing them. It was so cool to see the lights pulsate, flash and get brighter before our eyes.

The heavens proclaim the glory of God.

My story

My photography business is a combination of things that I love: photography, sports, and the outdoors. Growing up, I played numerous sports, and that helped shape me into who I am today. I love playing them, watching them, and I even referee soccer. Photographing sports is sometimes just as fun as playing them. The emotion that comes with sports, especially in the biggest moments, is raw and unfiltered. I shoot sports for schools in national championships, newspapers like The Lee’s Summit Journal, The Kansas City Star and Dominion Post (Morgantown, W.Va.), and have worked with other photography companies shooting NAIA championships.

My parents instilled in me a love for nature growing up, and I want others to see the beauty of creation. We went to national parks like Yosemite, Olympic and Smokey Mountains as a kid. As an adult, I’ve gone to Colorado every year as I can’t get enough of the mountains. I have a long list of places I’d like to travel to photograph. There are so many cool details and grand vistas in the world that I hope people experience, and I hope my photography propels people to travel and discover for themselves.

I also volunteer my photography at my church, Abundant Life. My faith is a huge part of my life, and I want my photography, whether for the church, a ministry I travel with overseas, or anything else, to help tell God’s story.
