HE’LL MOVE IN UNEXPECTED WAYS.

This logo is so much more than a commissioned project. When I was approached to design a logo for a Bible Study Center right here in our city, I was hesitant.

During this time, I was battling serious doubts in my creative mind. I wasn’t sure if I can pull it off, if I am still capable to handle projects like this since I was pigeonholed into a work that included repetitive tasks and I felt my creativity drained.

That, along with the idea that my design will be displayed in the public, added to the pressure. Sure, I had my designs plastered along the streets of London and presented in the Middle East, but if anyone had something negative to say about them, I wouldn’t hear it.

But the project is paid and my finances were low, so I took it. I came up with this. And somewhere along the way, I got my design mojo back. I was excited to try doing something like this again.

That’s why I am thankful for this project. I got paid, but I got way more than the price.

Design is much more complicated than combining shapes, colors and lines to build anything.

It’s the combination of inspiration, talent, practice and craft that create something that can embody an idea, all within the confines of print and digital media.

👋Hey there, Christian!👋

Nothing much to share, but just a reminder: The first few days would always be the scariest part.

You just recorded the very first video you’ll do for the year, and probably the most vulnerable you’ll do. And just as you’ve stopped recording, you are contemplating if you’ll push through with it, I decided to write this for you.

Your first video will suck. Your first hundred will. But can’t let your fear stop you, not again. It’s just not you anymore.

So go, and edit that video. Post it. And don’t look at it for the next week.

From now on, we won’t be stopped by fear and uncertainty — we work through it.

Looking forward to watching your first of many videos,
Christian

👋Hey there, Christian!👋

You probably don’t know how many pages you’ve started, all with the grandiose idea that you’ll turn this into something bigger and reach people that is far beyond your friends list. In my count, this is the 8th. (RIP Mamba 🙏🏼)

And with the same feeling of doubt and fear and uncertainty, you’re questioning yourself if you’re going to continue this and find time to create content that people would like to see, like, and share. You’re thinking of ways to be viral and ‘do social media differently.’

And finally, on your 8th page, you’ve finally figured it out! You now know that the reason you cannot be consistent and effective in this is because from the start, you’re thinking of others.

Di ka pa nagsisimula, iniisip mo na agad yung susunod.

So let’s do things now differently, okay?

From now on, you’re posting things for you.

What do you want to see? To read? To watch? What can make you think and feel better? What do you enjoy doing and reading? What will you interact with?

Answer these questions, and that’s what we’ll do.

You might be asking, ‘Why, Christian?’

And to that I say, ‘Because you are not unique.’

—————————

SIDEBAR: Being unique was once my main goal. I wanted to be different. I wanted to stand out. Probably because of a deeper reason from my dysfunctional childhood that will probably be shared on a future post 😅

—————————

You are not unique. Therefore, the ideas, realizations, and lessons you might need can help others, as well.

Whatever you choose to share to yourself might be what someone need, too.

Just always remember that you are doing this for you. Helping others will just be a byproduct, posting it online and afterthought.

So whenever you feel waves of doubt, fear, and uncertainty that will cripple you from sharing your stories, forget that this page is public and online.

Treat this as your Notes. Where you’ll be free to post and remind your future self of your lessons from the past.

A diary.
Open to all.
But written for you, by you.

Hoping there won’t be a 9th page,
Christian
