Outgoing Senegal President Macky Sall receives successor president Bassirou Diomaye Faye

President Macky Sall welcomed his successor, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, in a courtesy meeting on Thursday following Faye's election in the first round of the presidential election held on March 24, 2024.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the two leaders to engage in substantive discussions on key state matters, as well as the upcoming swearing-in and transition ceremony.

Minister of Finance announces release of one-month salary for civil servants after six-month delay

In a press conference held today in Juba, Minister of Finance, Awow Daniel Chuang disclosed that the government will release one month's salary for civil servants, who have gone unpaid for the past six months.

The announcement comes amid challenges in service delivery and currency instability, exacerbated by disruptions in oil flow through Sudan due to ongoing conflict in Khartoum.

The decision to release one month's salary for civil servants follows extensive discussions between the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank.

The disruption in oil flow through Sudan has further exacerbated currency instability, leading to a sharp rise in the dollar exchange rate and making goods increasingly unaffordable for citizens.

Awow emphasized the government's commitment to addressing the financial hardships faced by civil servants and acknowledged the urgency of releasing overdue payments.
