As I look back on the journey that brought me to where I am today, I think about how it all began. I originally wrote one 85,000 word book. I then sent it to an editor that I had paid to work on it and she told me that I didn't have a book.
I was devastated.
Then she told me the good news. I had three, each with a beginning, middle and end. She told me to take the first 25,000 words and expand on the concepts and work on the story line and to try to get it past 40,000 words and up to 50,000. Same with the next part and the next.
But wait, thats only 75,000 words?
The other 10,000 were filler words that had to be cut. But some of those concepts ended up in Book 4.
I worked on the first two and released "A Time to Shine" by day 70 and "Shine On: Invasion USA by day 90.
Then I had to wait a year to publish "Shining Through: Battles in the Pacific" because I had to raise the funds to publish the next two.
Which I was able to do by writing three role playing game supplements (each averaging 30 pages) for Traveller and several one pagers on DriveThruRPG.
The fourth in the Patrol Craft Series "Up in the Clouds" was published in December of 2023 and the first book of a new series set in the 1930's "Tales of Lake Tillery: My Friends Call Me Dot" was published in early January 2024. This is also supposed to be a ten book series and I hope that all of you will enjoy reading it as well as my other works.
