To celebrate International Women’s Day in 2021, we’ve launched a new feature on the past, present and future of the women’s media industry. In our special report, Mixed Media, reporter Ruth Terry questions how the industry will reinvent itself to stay viable, from the origins of Cosmopolitan magazine, which was once considered revolutionary, to crumbling business models built on the backs of fashion and beauty juggernauts.

What’s next for the future of women’s storytelling in mainstream media? Read Terry’s full report: https://trix-magazine.com/global-affairs/mixed-media/

Three years into Trix’s journey, we kick off Women’s History month with our first 2021 Rising Woman Grant, a cash award dedicated to one heroine who’s life work elevates underrepresented voices and inspires the next generation. Meet Dara Beevas. Dara is founder of Wise Ink, a Minneapolis-based publishing company that recently introduced a reparations program to fund Black authors. She also wrote the upcoming children’s book Li’l Queens, which teaches kids the history of real-life Black and Brown queens.

Read more about Dara’s journey to heal U.S. communities through storytelling and her unwavering commitment to help girls to see royalty when they look in the mirror and know they're worthy, honored, and capable of anything.
