Iceland: Instagram vs Reality 😂
The reality of Iceland in winter is extremely cold temperatures, insane winds, and everything freezes 🇮🇸 But with that being said it’s still an amazing time to visit Iceland and regardless, you will have an amazing time 🙌🏻

Last year I found a round trip flight to Greece for $87 🤯 so of course I booked it right away! One of my favorite things about living in Europe is how inexpensive it is to travel the continent. Most flights I’ve found are under $100 round trip and once I’m at my destination, hostels aren’t expensive either! Of course every country and city is different, but for example I’ve found traveling in the Balkans to be extremely affordable. If I decide to take ground transportation to countries near me like Germany, France, or Belgium, taking a bus is so inexpensive. I once found a bus to France for $4.99… I immediately booked it and I got to visit France for the first time! Here are some helpful budget travel apps/websites:
Google flights for flights
Omio for ground transportation
HostelWorld for accommodation
FlixBus for ground transportation
Have you traveled Europe? What are your favorite budget travel methods and destinations?

Easily one of the most beautiful places I’ve seen 🌲 It’s pretty cold and grey right now where I live (in Amsterdam) and I can’t wait until spring and summer where these vibrant colors will be back and the nature will be flourishing

Icelands midnight sun allows for 24 hours of light during the summer months. In the nighttime hours it just looks like sunset. I often get asked when the best time to visit Iceland is.. and I think that totally depends on what you want to see and do.
In winter time it’s cold, snowy, and there is only 5 hours of sunlight, however it is Northern Light season in winter so if you want to see the Northern Lights, go between the months October-March. (I’m hosting a group trip to Iceland to see the Northern lights in January of 2024!!)
In the summer there is daylight 24 hours and little to no snow on the lower parts of the Island. It is also much warmer than the wintertime. I am personally fond of the summer because of how much daylight there is, which allows for doing and seeing as much as possible throughout the day. Tip: don’t book hotels, but instead rent a car or campervan and do your exploring during the night and sleep during the day in the van!
❄️Winter Northern Lights: October-March
🌞Summer Midnight Sun: mid May to mid August

During a 4 day trip to Istanbul,Turkiye with efultimatebreak we got to see so much of a city rich in culture and history. To stand in a building that is over 1,500 years old is a surreal experience and I am forever in awe of old architecture and experiencing different cultures. What was so special about this trip is that our guide is from the country and could give us a locals perspective on life, history, and language in Turkiye. I am so grateful for this trip and for efultimatebreak for putting together such an incredible and life changing trip. Clearly, nikkiitomlin and I are mesmerized and ready to go on another.. So if you want to go on a group trip with EF Ultimate Break, you can use code SARA100 to get $100 off your first trip! Any questions??

bucket list item officially crossed off! Have you seen the Northern Lights ? Here’s some tips on how to see them while visiting Iceland ⤵️ 🇮🇸
Visiting Iceland from October through March gives you the best chance of seeing the Northern Lights. You can check out this website (en.vedur.is) to see the cloud cover over the island and the intensity of the Lights on any given day. To see the Northern Lights you will need dark and clear skies, as well as minimal light pollution. To best photograph the lights on an iPhone, open up your camera and slide up on the screen to view the different settings and then select night mode (looks like a moon). Then slide the timer up to 10 seconds and then aim and shoot but be sure to keep your phone as still as possible. One thing I learned in Iceland is that sometimes the Northern lights look like clouds so it is hard to tell what you are really looking at. This iPhone trick is a good way to tell if what you are looking at is clouds or the lights because your photo will either show gray for clouds or green/blue/red/yellow/pink for Northern Lights.
Save this post for future reference so you can see the Northern Lights next time you’re in Iceland! 🤎🇮🇸
