My passion for music began at a very young age when my parents took me to my very first concert in the late 80's at Jack Murphy Stadium. We sat in the nose-bleeds and my mom dressed me in a homemade "pink" tshirt with iron-on lettering, in support of the headlining band. That band was none other than the legendary Pink Floyd. Thus, my love affair for great music was ignited. Then as a prepubescent
grommet, my headbanging older brother introduced me to the likes of Guns N' Roses, Metallica, Slayer and others. I can still hear him now, always yelling at me from the other room, wondering where his cassette tapes kept mysteriously vanishing to. Once in middle school, I somehow got conned into joining the Columbia House music club and began building a nice collection of CD's. Thinking back on it, it's no wonder this company went bankrupt. Giving a membership to an unemployed 12 year old was not the best business model. Anyhow, a few days later, my first two purchases arrived in the mail and Rage Against The Machine and The Offspring filled the airwaves. In my high school days, I have fond memories of Blink (before they added "182") often playing in the quad during lunchtime. Then after school, you could probably find me at the local Music Trader spending countless hours with headphones glued to my dome, sampling bands like Minor Threat, Screeching Weasel and The Deftones, among others. I never really did grasp the concept of homework. But steadily, my skateboard deck and Fender Stratocaster began to fill with stickers of Lagwagon, NOFX, Bad Religion and many more punk bands. Seeing Unwritten Law and Pennywise play at SOMA on a Friday night was always a pretty standard extra curricular activity for me at that time. Then in my 20's, I started making a little money, so going to more shows was high on my priority list. My taste in music continued to grow daily, but now in my 30's, I have a wife and son, and I find myself spending much more time at the dinner table than at the merch table. So the decision to launch Soundboard News was made. My intention for the site is simply to share new and noteworthy music, as well as keep people informed on other related news and events. Music is my addiction and Soundboard News is my platform for expression, so for no other reason, I'd like to "play it forward" and share my passion with other like-minded music fans. Thank you for your interest in Soundboard News. Sincerely,
