"I was calling your name out earlier. But I guess your music was too loud."
He chuckled as he looked at me with a soft expression.
I stayed silent and kept doing my work.
"I did hear you. My music wasn't on at all. I heard the voice of the person that I fell in love with. I heard the voice that called my name excitedly, just like how I yearned for. I heard a soothing voice that suddenly became as strong as a tide, just like how I've always hoped. But I didn't dare to look back because I thought I'd burst into tears. I saw you confessing to someone when I was about to confess to you. I could only turn back after seeing you smile so affectionately at someone else. And I could only be happy for you."
I thought to myself.
"How could I not hear you?" I said in my mind.
"Arlo? You good?"
He suddenly said as I suddenly went silent for a while.
"Yeah. I'm good. Anyways, congrats on getting a girlfriend. There's finally someone to take care of a kid like you."
I chuckled as I tried not to cry.
"You... Well, thanks. I got to go for now. I have a date tomorrow."
He said with excitement in his voice.
"See ya, loser."
I replied before hanging up. It hurts so bad. But I couldn't help but be happy for him. His happiness was mine. All I could do now is be happy for them and support their relationship. I can now really call this love. Because I'm ready to let go.
