The Little Rebellion The Little Rebellion is the official online publication of the SUNY New Paltz journalism department.

Journalism classes and individual students contribute material to be published and edited by a group of students. I hold it that a little rebellion now and then is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical. Unsuccessful rebellions, indeed, generally establish the encroachments on the rights of the people which have produced them. An observation of this truth s

hould render honest republican governors so mild in their punishment of rebellions as not to discourage them too much. It is a medicine necessary for the sound health of government. -Thomas Jefferson

Members of the SUNY New Paltz Ecological Alliance board attend the March to End Fossil Fuels in mid-September 2023 with the Office of Campus Sustainability. They were among thousands in New York City protesting the climate crisis and continued dependence on fossil fuels. The club promotes sustainability through events like clothing swaps, trash cleanups, and by participating in local environmental protests.

These are among the many members of the SUNY New Paltz community passionate about environmental issues, for whom the reelection of Donald Trump signals a challenging road ahead. Read more at: https://thelittlerebellion.com/index.php/2024/11/suny-new-paltz-mobilizes-for-environmental-action/

"I'm eager to vote this year. It's such an important election and my first chance to participate in a presidential election," says Alyssa Sciaronne, a fourth-year jourrnalism major at SUNY New Paltz. However, Sciarrone struggled to obtain an absentee ballot after moving off campus without updating her registration in time, "our voting system is challenging for people with housing instability. Whether it's the simple situation of college students not knowing where or how to vote, or the more extreme case of people who are homeless and don't have a permanent address to register at. It's a struggle and one I think people often overlook."
