God's simple instructions produce extravagant results. Let's remember who the Giver of All Good Things is and that it is not us. Let's thank God for his every good and perfect gift.

This is the person responsible for your leadership results (and it's not you).

A leadership podcast host once said "Be obedient to God and trust him with the consequences. Live your life as if truly God will take full responsibility for your leadership results."

Does this mean we should just relax and go with the flow? No. We have to disrupt. We have to innovate. We have to confront. We have to encourage.

While we as leaders still have to drive into the future, it's not about making our mark on the world, it's about God making his mark through us.

If we settle this in our minds—that God is the one responsible for our leadership results—we will be in a perfect position for him to do what he wants through us.

When we follow God's leadership plan, we get his results, and he gets the glory.

Why do you pray?

There are obvious, Sunday School answers to that question:
1. God wants you to pray.
2. Most people in the Bible prayed (e.g. David's 150 psalms are prayers).
3. Jesus prayed and modeled that behavior to his disciples, even teaching them how to pray.

But why do you pray? Really?

God is love and seeks to deliver us from our sins.

Psalm 50:15 says, "call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me."

We're all in serious trouble because we've sinned and fallen short of God's righteous standard.

But God is love and is anxious to forgive.

The New Testament informs us that He is so full of mercy and compassion that He sent His Son to die so that our sins could be completely forgiven and we could be reconciled to Him.

We have one chance for salvation, and that is through faith in Jesus Christ.

When we feel weak or inadequate, we're often forced to trust God since there's no other eternal recourse.

We're prompted to pray due to the limits of our resourcefulness and the press of outside forces.

Then God answers our plea and displays His power in some manner.

He fortifies us or alters circumstances, and we praise Him as a result.

We tell others what God did. Being at wit's end magnifies His name because He gets a chance to do what only He can do.
