On December 31st, we officially ended HCTO with our Best Horror Films of 2024 episode, and after taking a month off, we’re BACK! New name, new format, same hosts—we are now RISE OF THE GAY CINEPHILES!

Whereas before, we’d just discuss individual films per weekly episode, we are now a fortnightly podcast discussing film, TV, & pop culture in general!

Each episode will contain discussions about what we’ve been watching recently, including films and TV shows, a general discussion about recent hot topics, and four slightly more detailed discussions about two older films we have recently watched and two new releases!

The first episode will be released on all podcast streaming platforms this Tuesday—be sure to check back here soon for an announcement on our first four main discussion films!

This week’s episode is out now on all podcast streaming platforms and, for the final of this year’s Christmas episodes, we’re discussing the bizarre piece of British TV history that is Cilla Black’s Christmas Eve, a wild and extremely camp TV special that features Cilla singing in questionable accents, The Bee Gees and their kids and wives being held captive in a room in Miami, and THAT horrendous rendition of All Night Long by Lionel Richie.

Alongside our main film discussion, we also discuss what we’ve been watching recently including Moonstruck and The Holiday Exchange.
