You might have noticed that we have not sent out LPE2 the last few days. Because of Ed and Blake, we reexamined LPE2, and will be sending out LPE2.2 tomorrow. Anyone who has LPE2 will get a new PDF, please erase the older one. We found a few mistakes, and a few rules that need clarification. One of the nice things about having equal armies, is that it makes writing the rules easier. However we have some interesting optional rules that trade units for moral points, that make an easy transition to understand the OOB. However, when it comes to Big Battles and very different army strengths, it becomes very complex. So we will post some ideas on the Google drive in the next weeks. Remember, this is a fun, engaging game, and not a simulation. Way more fun and versatile than a simulation.

It is a wrap. Getting the first LPE2s out now. Big announcement tomorrow.

Thank you Edwin Youngstrom for sending me money for LPE2 when it has not even been released yet!! I will send you the first copy we send out on Tuesday.

Okay, franticly working on LPE2. We had a bunch of issues come up this week, that we have, hopefully, resolved. A lot of them have to do with big battles. Lots of playtesting last week, and this weekend. So, we will slightly have to postponed the release date until Dec 17th (give us a day after the final playtests to make any changes). This is a hard date.

The cost will be $20 for LPE2 and LTPE. I will start to send out PDFs on the 17th. If you would like a printed copy, let me know, a local print shop (like FedEx), and we can send the PDF to them and they can print the rules. We are going to work with LWTV to get a good print copy program to you if you want.

As I have gotten experience in publishing and editing, my standards have increased. A LOT of effort has been expended to make this as clean as possible. No publication is without errors, but that is our goal.

Thanks to John and Dave and Blake for their help!!!

It is really pretty as well !!!

Curtis, Chipco

Anyone want to play test the ACW rules for LPE2? Would like an experienced ACW player.

26/11/2024

LPE2 is well on its way, lots of discussion about optional rules and ADCs (Aides de Camp). All good. I think we are absolutely on track for an early December release, and it will be a preview of all the cool thing we will release for the other games.

16/11/2024

Starting Sunday, we are taking all the LPE freebies off of the Google drive. All of these will be included in LPE2 next month. The bundle with CT and AOG will still be there at the same price ($15) without LPE. we do not currently have a price for LPE2. Depends on our relationship with LWTV. It was super cheap, and we have spent a bunch of time and effort to make it GREAT!

Thank you for your support.

Dave Smith and LWTV ran a Battle of the Isen Fords at Historicon last summer. Looks great! Posted earlier, but deserves to be posted again.

LPE2 After working on freebies for quite a while, we sent the playtest LPE2 rules to a noted historian, the former editor of the "Napoleon" magazine (see his review on the original LPE on the Google Drive), LWTV and four players in this group. If we get the reviews back by Thanksgiving, and there are not too many changes, we will release the game for sale the first week in December (shooting for the first).

What a great meme for an upcoming Napoleonic game. A squirrel in a French Napoleonic era uniform (wrong gun), and the French words! We are thinking of putting this as the last thing in LPE2 with "RIP P'Nut", lol.

BTW, if you do not know the P'Nut story, google it.
Je Suis P'Nut (I am P'Nut) is a shout out to the ISS concert bombing in Paris a few years ago (Je Suis Francais -- I am French) that people around the world posted to show their solidarity with France.

Yay!!!! We finally have the play test version of LPE2 ready. 31 revisions, and detailed editing. Lots of new rules accepted, play tested and either rejected or accepted. Gorgeous pictures of figures (from LWTV and John Hills and Chip). A very fast play introductory game (15-20 minutes) to optional rules to allow for historical games! It has been sent to LWTV for comments.

So, we would like the following:

- It has been a while since we thought we would be ready. Are the original people who wanted to playtest still available? Please let me know. Or others, not involved. We require a review of the game in order to get the rules for playtest. Who is interested?

- We had a group for big battle LPE. We would like to know if you are still interested in a collaboration. We can either put your rules as optional rules in the game, or on the Goggle drive. Please edit them if needed, and send them to me at [email protected].

- We have some cool fan pictures. With the 80x80 stand with 10mm figures, to others. Let us know if you want them to be in the game or at least on the Google drive. We, of course, will give you credit either way.

Thanks for your patience.

Will hope to release LPE2 around Thanksgiving. After that, we have a scenario (Talavera), and an optional expansion for ACW (this is way cool), hopefully for the Holidays. Works really well.

WOW, this is cool.! Italian Wars DOK3 expansion coming out around the holidays! I am going with Chip Harrison. Anyone else in the Bay Area (ca., USA) want to go with us?

On the walls of San Francisco's de Young Museum, there's a battle taking shape, and it's about 500 hundred years in the making: a majestic conflict revealed, soldier by soldier, in seven rare tapestries.

New unit for DOK.

The top level Early Medieval Cavalry will will now be Norman Knights. We will use this unit with DOK3 with the early medieval list (and the current early Holy Land Crusades list)..

Norman Knights (50 ECU) will be regular HC with +1 to movement and +1 to RR and the ability to change formation and/or facing for no movement points. Knights at this age were knighted because of their ability, and not because of their family connections.

Feel free to use this unit in current early Medieval battles (but not Knights or regular HC in the same battle).

FR! for Middle Earth.

Both John and I have been very busy lately, but still working on new projects. I intend to post ongoing projects.

We need to stop posting all the free stuff (check out the Goggle drive in the pinned notice). and maybe get some sales. :)

So the first post on this thread is, for free (of course).

Okay, I have had almost no response to play testing the (free) Helms Deep scenario for Middle Earth. We have had some LWTV response for the battle of the Isen fords though.

LWTV used Fantasy Rules! (dude) for 3 games at Historicon, and one at their own club.

I would like to have some other feedback on Helm's Deep! I have another request for play testing which I will honor. Especially on victory points.

Rohirriim Cavalry will now be Norman knights. We will use this unit with DOK3 with the early medieval list and FR!. Tolkien modeled the Rohirriim as Norman Knights, and they did not use mounted bows as they lacked recurved and composite bows.

Norman Knights (50 points) will be regular HC with +1 to movement and +1 to RR and the ability to change formation and/or facing for no movement points. Knights at this age were knighted because of their ability, and not because of their family connections.

Rohirriim as Medium Cav did not pass the play testing.

Also, for the Rohirriim, Bow units can be like "dragoons":
start as Mounted in FR!, and can dismount as bows. Remember that bows can stack together to give a +1 shooting bonus as "one" unit.

This is where the picture for DOK came from:

A detailed Renaissance engraving once saved from the dump by an 11-year-old boy has been identified as the work of Albrecht Dürer, the famed German Renaissance artist. The rare print is now heading to the auction block, where it’s predicted to fetch over $26,000. “I’ve seen countless prints c...

SO, we have a beta version of Helms Deep. We will be changing the Rohan Horse to Norman Knights. Please let me know your comments.

Ok, September 14th is my birthday, My wish was to get LPE2 finished, and finish DOK3, and maybe forge a relationship with Splintered Light Miniatures.

So got LPE2 to John for cosmetic rework.

It is time for us to get Version 20 to the playtesters for comment. I have a few lined up, let me know again.

Yes, this is version 20, but hopefully just a few more. We try to make the rules perfect, but, sigh, not...
