In the Company of Prayer In the Company of Prayer provides a quick, daily prayer for business professionals We don’t take those skills nor their requisite responsibilities lightly.

The ethical business executive understands that we’ve been given a very specific skill set from above. Yet in spite of this, those of us in positions requiring business acumen have unique barriers to a community of like-thinkers. In the Company of Prayer intends to service such a community with a prayer via email each workday that is short enough to be read off a PDA and is accompanied by a pertin

As we gather to share a meal, it’s more than just nourishment for our bodies; it’s nourishment for our souls. The dinner table is where we can teach our children the values we hold dear, celebrate our blessings, and draw closer to God as a family. It’s in these moments that we have the opportunity to plant seeds of faith that will grow and flourish in our children’s hearts.

In Deuteronomy 6:6-7, we are reminded, "These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up." Our meals together provide the perfect setting to fulfill this command, turning our daily routines into moments of spiritual growth.

As many of you know, this past Lenten season marked the conclusion of our Morning Briefing daily emails. We have continued to provide periodic emails to keep this family of ours in shared reflection; we hope you are enjoying it and are reminded of the prayers we all share.

We have since been focusing on our Scripture dinnerware company, Feed on the Word. We encourage you to follow us there for reflections on Scripture, faith-filled homemaking and fostering a Christ-centered family.

We have been blessed by this community and give thanks to the Lord who shared you all with us.

With continued thanks and many more prayers,
Company of Prayer

May our prayers lead us back to words of wisdom.

"Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us; And confirm for us the work of our hands; Yes, confirm the work of our hands." -- Psalm 90:17

Pray for those who've been beaten down; may they not lose their enthusiasm.

"At Alaska Airlines, we have provided prayer cards to our customers for more than 30 years. A former marketing executive borrowed the idea from another airline and introduced the cards to our passengers in the late 1970s to differentiate our service. The cards have been provided only to our First Class customers since meal tray service ended in coach six years ago. Beginning February 1, 2012, however, we'll be eliminating the cards entirely." -- Bill Ayer, Chairman and CEO, Alaska Air Group & Brad Tilden, President, Alaska Airlines, In a letter to their customers

Lord, let me rely on your greatness when facing whatever is keeping me from moving forward.

"It is our greatness rather than our littleness that intimidates us most of all." -- Unknown Author, Sacred Space

Let us continue to pray for faith and wisdom.

"This is true wisdom, to find a faith that can carry us through darkness, doubt and suffering." -- Unknown Author, Sacred Space

Let me rely on a character developed through your influence, Lord, in times of stress.

"For it is character through which leadership is exercised; it is character that sets the example and is imitated. Character is not something one can fool people about." -- Peter F. Drucker, The Daily Drucker: 366 Days of Insight and Motivation for Getting the Right Things Done

Remind me again, Lord, that your plan for me is bigger than my own for myself.

"Success is not forever and failure isn't fatal." -- Ken Blanchard, The Heart of a Leader

Let us pray.

"Prayer is as essential to the inner life as breath is to the body." -- Don M. Aycock, How to Have a Conversation with God

May we be the light another may be desperate to see.

"If there was a bright spot in the epic gridlock, it was the Southern-style graciousness. Strangers opened up their homes and volunteers served coffee and snacks to the traffic-bound." -- AP, Helicopters search for stranded Southern drivers

On my willingness to listen and to hear, I pray.

"Speak, for your servant is listening." -- 1 Samuel 3:10

Lord, give strength to those praying at work for a miracle.

"Don't pray for miracles. Pray for powers equal to your tasks, and you will be the miracle." -- Pastor Robert Fehlman

Lord, reinforce in me the flexibility I need to weather the storm.

"Trees look strong compared with wild reeds. But when the storm comes, the trees are uprooted, whereas the wild reeds, while moved back and forth remain rooted and stand up again after the storm has calmed down. Flexibility is a great virtue." -- Henry J.M. Nouwen, Bread for the Journey

Give me strength against all my enemies, I pray.

"Anxiety is the soul's greatest enemy, sin only excepted. When the heart is anxious and disquieted within itself, it loses the power to preserve those virtues which are already acquired, and also the means of resisting temptations of Satan, who does not fail to test the strength of the rope." -- St. Francis deSales

For all of us who need healing, please pray.

"We humans can work hard for each other, and we should and we must work. But it is God, and only God, who heals." -- David Wilkerson, The Cross and the Switchblade

That my leadership results in the advancement of a colleague's goals and aspirations, I pray.

"If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader." -- John Quincy Adams

Lord, with so many shiny things out there to distract us, let us find and focus on the star of our salvation.

"So why is the feast called Epiphany? The word itself, in its religious connotations, means 'the appearance of a superhuman being.' But the word epiphany can also mean 'a revelation, a realization,' and that's exactly what we recall on this day. On this feast, the significance of Mary's son was revealed to all people--not just shepherds and angels, but Jews and Gentiles alike. For the Magi, this day was truly an epiphany. They followed the star, not knowing what to expect, and it led them to the desires of their hearts." -- Woodeene Koenig-Bricker, 365 Mary

Lord, help us to remember that though the struggle is difficult, it holds the promise of salvation.

"Something happened to me that hellish muggy day as I sat on the curb seven years ago. For a long time I didn't know how to describe what it was, but now I do. I was saved." -- Joe Eszterhas, Crossbearer
