RIFF

RIFF Music. In the Bay Area and beyond. Interviews and critiques. Run by journalists who love music. RIFF is not a music publication. Would you like to join us?

RIFF was founded in 2016 by longtime journalists who also just happened to love music. We're a news publication that just happens to focus on the music industry. Before starting RIFF, we were staff writers for the San Jose Mercury News and Oakland Tribune, and have bylines in both regional newspapers and national publications. Sometimes, our work has won pretty prestigious awards. We started RIFF

after realizing that others were not doing a good job of picking up the slack left behind by understaffed newspapers, while blogs were more concerned about event production than the journalism side of things. We're always looking to grow and learn from the experience of others. Our No. 1 question from artists:

Your kid might become a musician one day, Dad; do your best.
