Babar Azam has broken West Indian batter Chris Gayle's record by reaching the milestone in 271 innings
KARACHI: Star batter and Peshawar Zalmi skipper Babar Azam on Wednesday added another feather to his cap, becoming the fastest batter to score 10,000 runs in T20 format.

The opening batter achieved the feat in 271 innings breaking the record of West Indian cricketer Chris Gayle who reached the milestone in 285 outings.

Azam scored the 10,000th run today during the sixth match of the Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) ninth edition played between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings.

The right-hander has represented 19 teams in T20 format, scoring 3,698 runs for the national side and 2,398 for the Kings.
He is also the only player who had scored over 3000 runs in the PSL and the 13th player overall to score 10,000 runs in the shortest format.

Gayle is on top of the list with 14,562 runs while Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik has made 13,159 runs.

Babar Azam made history in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) by being the first player to score over 3,000 runs. But even with his great performance, his team Peshawar Zalmi lost to Quetta Gladiators by 16 runs in their first game of the ninth season.

Peshawar Zalmi had to chase a tough score of 207 set by Quetta. Babar Azam played well, scoring 68 runs, which was his 29th half-century in the PSL. He hit six fours and two sixes, showing his skill in batting.

However, despite Babar Azam's good play, the rest of the Zalmi team didn't do so well. They kept losing wickets, and in the end, they got all out for 190 runs in the final over. Even though Babar Azam played a great innings, it wasn't enough to win the match.

After experiencing a setback in the general elections, the fervent admirer of the renowned artist Nasrat Fateh Ali Khan, Ustad Chahat Fateh Ali Khan, took to social media platform X to unveil the anthem of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Through a post on this platform, Ustad Chahat Fateh Ali Khan shared the PSL anthem titled ‘Phir PSL Ka Match Ho,’ indicating his enthusiasm for the upcoming cricket league.

Accompanied by a video of the anthem, Ustad Chahat Fateh Ali Khan greeted his audience with the traditional Islamic greeting ‘Asalam o Alaikum’ before announcing the release of the song. However, due to an oversight, he had to split the release of the song into two separate parts.

In the rendition of the song, reminiscent of the famous Indian track ‘Hum Tum Ek Kamray Mein Band Ho,’ the passionate singer listed out all the franchises of the PSL. However, he inadvertently omitted mentioning the ‘Karachi Kings’ and ‘Quetta Gladiators.’

The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) is working extra hard to make sure the area around Gaddafi Stadium stays clean during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) nine matches.

More than 200 LWMC workers, along with machines for cleaning and moving trash, are working all the time to clean and wash the areas around the stadium. When the PSL matches are happening, even more workers will be there, focusing on making sure there is no trash left behind.

Babar Sahib Din, the CEO of LWMC, said they are committed to keeping Lahore clean and want cricket fans to help by not throwing trash on the ground at the stadium.

Babar Azam Remains Only Batsman in Top Five Across Formats After Latest ICC Rankings Update
In the newest list of the best batsmen in One Day International (ODI) cricket by the International Cricket Council (ICC), Babar Azam is still at the top with 824 points. He’s doing really well and keeping his spot strong.

Some players from Sri Lanka like Charith Asalanka, Pathum Nissanka, and Sadeera Samarawickrama have moved up in the rankings. They played really well against Afghanistan, so they got higher in the list.

Mohammad Nabi from Afghanistan is now the best all-rounder in ODIs. He did great in a match against Sri Lanka, scoring a century and getting a wicket. This helped him reach the top spot, taking over from Shakib Al Hasan.

Babar Azam is also doing well in Test cricket. He’s in fifth place in the ICC Test Batting Rankings with 768 points. But Kane Williamson is still leading the list.

In Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket, Surya Kumar Yadav is the top batsman with 861 points. After him are Glenn Maxwell, Tim David, and Mohammad Rizwan.

Adam Zampa and Marcus Stoinis have moved up in the T20I rankings for bowling and all-round performance, showing they’re doing really well lately.
