Harewood House is one of England’s finest country houses, set in the heart of Yorkshire amid a magnificent landscape.

Built in the 18th century, no expense was spared when Edwin Lascelles, a wealthy plantation owner, began building Harewood House in 1759. Has anyone been watching the BBC's excellent Tudor drama, Wolf Hall, based on Hilary Mantel's award-winning triology of novels?

In the series Mark Rylance perfectly plays the wily Thomas Cromwell, who worked his way up to become King Henry's right-hand man, and subsequently had a spectacular, and fatal, fall from grace.

Having been appointed the King’s Vicegerent in Spirituals (his deputy in ecclesiastical affairs), Cromwell was also one of Henry's chief men in his most controversial policy of all, the Dissolution of the Monasteries, which saw 800 monasteries across England and Wales dissolved within four years.
