Wax Poetry and Art presents Shakespeare's Pen

Welcome, poets of the world.
In the English language, there is a poet of such renown,
he is known simply as, "the Bard."
Through centuries and revolutions and technological advances,
the Bard's words still resound throughout the lands.
Truly, all the world's a stage.
But this is not the world of the Bard any longer –
This is a New World.
New cultures, voices, perspectives, and poetic traditions,
all enfolded into one English language.
One day, a new voice will inhale
the reality of this new world,
and exhale words
that future generations will hail
as the most sage, most eloquent, and most beautiful.

Wax Poetry and Art presents Shakespeare's Pen, a symbol of poetic excellence. Become a poetry legend and a national hero. Follow the guidelines to submit.

Bigger than Me
by Chelsea Awang

Loving, lying, sing song birds lull me
Our hearts are pleased, nonetheless.
Riding the earth on beauty's hard back
Then bathe, clothe, house, feed him.

Catch and release, catch and release

Opportunity for Indigenous artists in Great Lakes Review:
(Has to be topically or geographically connected to the Great Lakes region).

Great Lakes Review is open for submissions to our Special Indigenous Issue from July 1, 2022, through September 1, 2022. Regular submissions will be open starting September 1, 2022.

Approximately 120 bands of Indigenous peoples have occupied the Great Lakes basin over the course of recorded history. As the only regional literary journal solely dedicated to the Great Lakes region, Great Lakes Review is excited to curate a special Indigenous issue. By doing so, we aspire to bring awareness of the journal to Indigenous writers of the Great Lakes and abroad, in turn allowing us to share their creations with the world.

As always, we welcome fiction, poetry, nonfiction, and photography created in and about the Great Lakes region. However, for this issue, we’re accepting work by Indigenous creators only. These creators can be native to the region, native to other regions but creating work from within the basin of the Great Lakes, or native to other regions but creating work informed by the Great Lakes region. Please click read below for general submission guidelines and click here for specific submission guidelines.
