That's a wrap for the 2024 Manitoba, Saskatchewan & Nunavut AAC Regional Championships. Day 2 was much rougher than day 1 so we opted to do a blooper reel instead...make sure to listen with sound 🤣 Overall I'm super proud of how we performed even though we were nowhere near qualifying for Nationals (267.12 points but needed 350). We showed up and gave our best try for each run, there was definitely moments where I saw all the work we've been putting in but also plenty of WTF moments to keep us down to earth lol we even won a raffle prize 😱 Huge thanks to AIM and the organizing committee for hosting, everything seemed to run smoothly and we finished early both days! Jumpers 2 was a bit of a gong show 🤣 a late cue gave us an off course, a very late front cross (the plan was a blind 🙈) and then my brain quit so I used the wrong cue and got an off course then when we finally got the right cue he performed it incorrectly which further frazzled me...and I have no idea what was going on at the tire lol he's never gone under a tire before but apparently we're adding that to our skills 🤷♀️ ended with a massive 5 points and a 6th place lol
Standard 2 didn't look good on paper and only ran marginally better 😔 the grass was wet and very slippery which resulted in a few slips which had me questioning pulling for the rest of the day. A few off courses (we really haven't worked much discrimination). Finished with 45 points and 6th place
Gamblers 2 started off well, little bit of a fumble at the tire since I was so far behind (after someone broke his startline again 🤦♀️), then we almost ran our poor judge over 🙈 we were in a perfect spot to start the gamble but unfortunately missed the weave entry and when I resent him he took the number 1 jump again 🤷♀️ managed 52 points earning us 3rd place
Jumpers 1 was off to a slightly better start...held our startline but I released quickly in an effort to get a positive reward in but that left me too far behind so refusal on 3 then my verbals were late resulting in a dropped bar at 5 and an off course at 8 but got some fabulous distance from 10-14 and a clean line home. Once again finishing with 45 points and 6th place 🤷♀️
Standard 1 started rough (again with the startline 🙄) and him trying to race me which resulted in 25 faults before we even got the first 2 obstacles 🤣 pulled it together to avoid the off course jump after 4 but got a refusal on 10 then knocked the bar at 12. Gorgeous aframe contact and nailed the weaves (something we've been struggling with in trials) then wrapped it up with an off course tunnel lol left us with a total of 45 points and 6th place
Gamblers 1 to start the day! Managed 31 points and got the gamble in 50.88 (SCT was 60) which earned us a 3rd place. Thoroughly impressed with the quality of his dogwalk contacts in this run, shame we couldn't hold our startline so I could see them real time 🤣
Moments of sh*t show and moments of brilliance tonight followed by a pieced together course since we couldn't keep our brain enough to do it in one shot 🤣🙈

All our fitness, balance and proprioception training is paying off! First time on the paddleboard in water and even with the wind Fizz was pretty steady and comfortable. Wearing his @jigsew_co gear for easy cleaning since the water isn't very clean. Can't wait to get more adventures in and actually take the board out for a paddle

Final adventure day of the weekend complete! Did the rubber chicken at the hotel with a yak chew then visited our favorite people at @veterinarymobilitycenter for a "pre-season check". Got a clean bill of health so just some maintenance laser and acupuncture followed by intervals on the underwater treadmill (and the sadness as the water disappeared lol then we went to @cowtowncanada where he guilted a gentleman into buying him a bully stick 🙈

Had a great time at the Shauna Oliver seminar yesterday in Regina. Never thought I'd be told to slow down and wait for my dog 🤣 he's been running so we'll lately so we focused on decelling, verbals, tighter wraps and working through food distractions (an issue I didn't know we had 🤷♀️).

So proud of this boy! Today was an interesting day lol started with a Crazy 8s that he accidentally did the tunnel on which left me following the judge because I didn’t know where the exit was (didn’t look at the map since we don’t do them when there’s rats on course) and both Fizz and I stood there confused about what happened 🤣 second crazy 8s was back to normal so 50 points in that one then we played Masters B and Q’d which earned him his RATCH (championship) with a fabulous prize (31 tote and rat tube keychains) as well as a ribbon that’s the same size as he is! We then promptly broke our streak of 12 Masters Qs in a row by missing a rat 🤷♀️
