At first, when I saw the post yesterday, I thought (and also wished) it was a PRANK or PUBLICITY STUNT for the movie they were doing.
However, somehow, it sounded so real, I made a post but heard he was recovering, so, I had to delete my first post. Not until much later when news spread that he had finally d!ed. 😢
Of course, Junior Pope was one of the actors I'd been privileged to work with about some two years back when we did Honey Money.
And I must say for a fact that he was one of the funniest actors I'd worked with in this industry.
I recall back then, while filming Honey Money, of course, I was the Continuity/Script Supervisor, I recall him jokinly saying, 'Conty, na only you I dey fear for this set, because anytime you dey approach me, e mean say I don miss one or two movements like that.' He'd jokinly say it and we'd laugh together.
Truly, he wasn't just hilarious working with him, he was also creative. For those of you who went to the cinema to see Honey Money when it came out, you will hear the lines 'How much is money?..., if you doubt me, ask E-money.' Those were his personal creation to the script in order to further enhance his character. Junior Pope was indeed, an asset.
We will miss him greatly.
And for the other crew members who lost their lives as well, it is a pity the production didn't care about the safety of these guys.
Sometimes, it is even how far these Producers go to please the actors, forgetting the crew members, not knowing that we, the crew members make these actors who they are.
To my fellow crew members whose lives were lost in this unfortunate incident, on behalf of Nollywood and the entire crew members of Nollywood, I send my condolences across to your respective families and pray that the almighty give your families the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.
Goodnight Junior Pope A.k.A Swagnation, A.k.A Who does that?
Goodnight film crew members!
Nollywood mourns yet again.
