We're so proud to represent such a talented collective of reporters. Union membership allows us to protect their work and ensure these irreplaceable creators of local news coverage are able to do their jobs while having a seat at the table.

WFYI and IPB News staffers earned 14 awards from the Indiana Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists for their work in 2023.

It is with immense pride that we, the WFYI Public Media Collective, have been voluntarily recognized by WFYI management, having completed an independently arbitrated card check certifying all 38 authorizations.

Congratulations to Oregon Public Broadcasting and KMHD Jazz Radio on announcing their intention to unionize. With more than twenty radio stations and frequencies under the OPB banner, this could have a significant impact on the future of public media, alongside stations like WFYI who are doing the same.

SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director and Chief Negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland said, “I cannot overstate the importance of regional media, and whether it’s news or entertainment, these committed professionals deserve to have their voices heard, not only by the communities they serve, but by those who employ them. Let me extend my warmest welcome to our newest SAG-AFTRA members.”
