Just over 35 years ago, The Cure released a tour de force that would forever change the realm of dark wave goth music, gifting the scene a visceral emblem of musical greatness that traversed the very hands of time.

Disintegration wasn’t just an album; it was a lullaby, a glam rock abyss, and a seductive whirlwind of black hole macabre wrapped into one.

While writing the album, Robert Smith led himself down an effervescent path filled with darkness, longing, trauma, love, and confusion. He trapped himself in the very confines of his own mind and bled out corruption and despair through the delicate notes of music.

He opened the doors to his endearingly kitsch world while holding up a mirror to anyone out there, urging them to realise their own inner morbidity.

Edie and Gertrude made their debut at the State Fair of Texas last week. Although Gertrude didn't place, Edie did an incredible job, especially when Gertrude decided to throw a temper tantrum on Day 1. Edie responded strong and got her back on good behavior for the remaining events. I think Edie learned a lot from this trip, and will bounce back stronger for her next showing. I'm so proud of her.

It's been a blessing and honor to be a part of every Southern Smoke Festival since the beginning. From a little party in the UB parking lot to taking over Discovery Green, it's been amazing to witness the accomplishments of Chris Shepherd and crew over the years. I know this one is especially meaningful to Chris after the devastation left to the East Coast by Hurricane Helene. Together with our fellow chefs, sponsors, and volunteers, we were able to raise over $1.5M for aid and mental health for hospitality workers all over the country.

Can't believe this guy is 10 years old. We're so proud of the person he's growing into. For his birthday he wanted to pre-game at @rielhouston. Then we headed to the JuiceBox. We sat in right field so we could be closer to his favorite Astro, @ktuck_30. He had a solid game, but unfortunately we couldn't pull off the W. He was sad, but said he had a great time. He even got a birthday call from Bubby on the way home.

Lambfrey couldn't live up to his predecessors, but it was a good year for Edie nonetheless. Juggling freshman year, learning a new sport, and FFA is a lot. We're happy for the relationships she builds each year. It's great to see all the kids working together.
