Facebook appears to be testing limiting organic link posts to just 2 per month for non-Meta Verified profiles and pages. 👉🏻 Have you heard this news? It may be a 'stealth' limited test rolling out only to certain regions and users so far. But likely will roll out more widely soon.
If you don’t pay for the Meta Verified subscription service, you’ll be restricted to sharing links in only 2 organic posts per month!! 😳
This has to be a big push for more Meta Verified subscriptions, right?
BOTTOM LINE? 🤷🏼♀️
- Facebook wants to keep users ON the platform.
- Link posts have gotten the lowest reach for the past decade+. (Which is why most marketers learned to put links in the first comment).
- You can still share links in your own comments. But, they are only active (clickable) when you add a comment with a link to your *own* posts. You might’ve seen this happening lately? If you add a comment with a link to someone else's post, the link is not active.
🔗 WHAT TYPES OF ACCOUNTS are impacted by this change?
- Personal profiles switched to Professional Mode
- Public / Business Pages
So, personal profiles in ‘classic mode’ are not affected… but most likely because people don’t tend to use that format for business/posting links. Hm.
🔗 WHAT TYPES OF LINKS will be limited on Facebook?
- ANY links.
- BUT you can freely share on an unlimited basis ‘supported affiliate links’ (whatever that means?!), and any links to anything officially Meta (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, etc.).
What are your thoughts? Is this a good move to minimize spammy links? Or will it impact your ability (even further) to drive traffic from Facebook to your website?
