GRANBY...WHAT IS GOING ON OVER THERE?!
A few days ago we shared the news about Vintage Press Café, and today we've got ANOTHER new café headed your way!
But this one is bringing something entirely different to the table.
Meet Amee Cafe, coming to 83 Salmon Brook Street!
The new venture is brought to you by local husband-and-wife team Amairany Estrada (affectionately known as Amee) and Xavier Guzman, the same duo behind Corazon Tequilero in West Simsbury.
So what's on the menu? Think brunch, coffee, protein collagen shakes AND cocktails!
But wait...there's more! Plans also include yoga and events, creating a space to gather, connect and enjoy a little bit of everything.
No official opening date just yet, but you know we'll keep you in the loop!
Two new cafés. Two completely different concepts. One very lucky town!

🚨 SCOOP ALERT 🚨
Something very cool is brewing in GRANBY.
Vintage Press Café is planning to open in mid-October at 256 Salmon Brook Street. This mother-daughter-owned café is bringing a little 1920s + ’30s flair along with it.
Located inside a historic early-1800s building that was once a print shop (hence the name Vintage Press!), the café is being designed as a warm, vintage-inspired space where you can grab something to go or settle in and stay awhile.
On the menu? Specialty coffee + espresso drinks, loose-leaf teas, handcrafted refreshers, breakfast, lunch and pastries.
But here’s the part we LOVE…
Their signature “Muses” drinks are each named after an influential woman from history celebrating women from the worlds of art, literature, music, science and beyond. We’re already curious to see who made the menu!
Vintage Press Café plans to be open 7 days a week from 7am–2pm, with an outdoor patio they’ll keep going for as much of the year as Connecticut weather allows.

Last week, we took you inside Michaels Estate Jewelers. Today, we’re taking you behind the business.
Meet Chris Hannoush and Robert Eshou. ❤️

Michaels has a history that stretches back more than 140 years, but what Chris and Robert are creating here in Avon feels incredibly personal.

Spirit Halloween is NOW OPEN at Simsbury Commons, taking over the former Apex Go Karting space at 530 Bushy Hill Road.
We first gave you the scoop that Spirit Halloween was headed to Simsbury Commons earlier this summer…and now the doors are officially open!
Costumes, decorations, animatronics and all things Halloween are ready and waiting.

Another Avon restaurant has quietly closed its doors.
Salsa Fresca Mexican Grill, located at 380 West Main Street in Avon Marketplace, is now closed. The Mexican restaurant opened in Avon less than 5 years ago, and as far as we can tell, no public announcement was made regarding the closure.
But here’s where things get interesting...
We found a business asset listing for a fully equipped fast-casual restaurant at the same address with an asking price of $295,000.
The listing describes a 2,169-square-foot, turnkey restaurant with a fully equipped commercial kitchen and dining room. The stated reason for selling: “Operator needs to downsize operations.”
The listing also notes that certain types of food are restricted at the location, including burgers, Italian, coffee, açaí/smoothie bowls and chocolate concepts.
Four other Salsa Fresca locations remain open in Connecticut.
So now the big question: What would you like to see move into this spot next?

The wait is officially over!!!
Max Burger AVON opens for dinner service on Tuesday, September 15th at 70 East Main Street and we got a sneak peek inside before the doors open to the public.
And my Farmington Valley peeps...they have absolutely outdone themselves!
The former Max a Mia space (now located at Avon Marketplace) has been completely transformed into the newest Max Burger, bringing the Max Hospitality experience to a location so many of us already know well.
Judging by the space AND the Avon menu, this one was worth the wait. Think elevated burgers, hand-cut fries, house-made sauces, creative cocktails, craft b**r, spiked milkshakes and plenty more.

We’re hearing there may be something new cooking at the former Nodine’s Smokehouse at 192 Albany Turnpike in CANTON.
Several sources have told The Scoop Avon that Zen Restaurant Group may be bringing a new breakfast concept to the Route 44 location.
But for now, details are VERY hush-hush. We’ve been working to verify what we’re hearing and reached out directly to Zen Restaurant Group, but have not received a response. So while we have enough chatter to put this one on your radar, we’re stopping short of calling it official just yet.
We’ll keep digging and share more as soon as we can get it confirmed.

Complete Grappling LLC is currently in its soft opening at 192 W Main Street, Unit A, in AVON behind Rosie’s Laundromat, with a Grand Opening planned for September 12th!
The new martial arts studio offers Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (Gi + No-Gi), Wrestling and Judo, with classes for kids and adults, from beginners and casual hobbyists to competitive athletes.
They also offer women-only classes and are an ambassador for We Defy, a program supporting Veterans through Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Founding member discounts are available through the Grand Opening.
