Kerrville, scammers are targeting our community with police imposter scams. We have received multiple calls today about this. Criminals impersonating real KPD officers are calling local citizens and threatening them with arrest for crimes that never happened unless they pay them via gift-cards or Bitcoin. They even spoofed our real KPD number to seem more legit!
Law enforcement and the courts will never demand money or gift cards from residents for any purpose. If you are called and threatened with arrest unless you pay a fine or fee with a gift-card or cyber currency from someone claiming to be an officer, sheriff's deputy, or court official, even if they use a real officer's name, hang up! It's a scam!
To report a law enforcement imposter scam, please contact the Kerrville Police Department at (830) 257-8181 and report report it at www.ftc.gov as well. Help us spread the word!
