REVIEW - Horror Tales: The Wine

"The tale of a special red wine created by the Banydebosc family, said to possess the power to cure the Devil’s Fever, leads protagonist Marti on a mission to find it to save his family from said ailment in Horror Tales: The Wine.

Navigating an abandoned city, largely in ruins, leads the player on a first-person horror experience that twists reality and provides company in the form of a headless apparition that stalks the player at regular intervals. Unable to fight back, the player must run, solve puzzles and find the wine in the reality-bending horror tale."

REVIEW - Darker Skies

"Darker Skies is the follow up to Grey Skies: A War of the Worlds Story from developer Steel Arts Software. Inspired by the infamous works and stories of H.G. Wells, Darker Skies tells the tale of Jack, a survivor of the War of the Worlds, on his mission to collect the parts he needs to construct a heat ray, blast his way to freedom and hopefully find the means to restore civilisation.

The third-person survival-horror experience will take players through six locations collecting the components for the heat ray from the wreckage of the gigantic alien Tripod machines. Using stealth, crafting throwables and shooting through the remnants of the forever broken world, Darker Skies provides atmospheric tension at every moment but ultimately succumbs to an invasion of technical and design issues that even the Martians can’t overcome."

REVIEW - Lake

"Providence Oaks is a beautiful, scenic, sleepy town that Meredith Weiss once called home in Lake. Returning to the town she grew up in for two weeks to fill in for her father, Meredith trades in her IT hat to don the blue attire of the Providence Oaks postal service. Delivering mail on her daily rounds introduces her to some of the quirky townsfolk and reacquaints her with faces from her past and those close to her parents.

Doing daily delivery rounds, completing optional side missions given from some of the mail recipients and taking in the sights of the charming Providence Oaks leads to a rather relaxing story set in 1986 that is full of charm and decisions to make. These decisions can affect Meredith's friendships and relationships as well as determining which of the alternate endings will play out."

REVIEW - Godfall "Fire and Darkness"

"Godfall received some pretty mixed reviews when it originally launched alongside the PlayStation 5 in November but after a handful of updates, it started to be received the way it deserved. REVIEW - Assassin's Creed: Valhalla - The Siege of Paris

"Originally planned as the final story expansion prior to the announcement of second year content for Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, The Siege of Paris adds the French location and a few new ideas but essentially feels like more of the same.

Continuing the heavily political narrative themes of the base game and the previous expansion, Eivor is enlisted by a pair of foreigners to travel to their homeland and help bring down the Mad King, Charles the Fat."

"Morris Lupton was once the curator of Shelmerston Museum, passing away in 2019 at 62 years old. Despite being dead, Morris embarks on one last adventure in I am Dead to prevent a not-so-dormant volcano from destroying the island that is home to the museum, his past and its inhabitants.

Light puzzle solving is required to uncover the memories of other ghosts, find their mementos and complete optional riddles in this puzzle/treasure hunt adventure animated with charming visuals and a relaxing score."

"Developed by Counterplay Games Godfall originally released as a launch title for the PlayStation 5 back in November 2020. Nine months later in a rare move Godfall has found its way to the PlayStation 4.

A third-person action RPG looter set in a mythological world of God-like warriors in striking armour, Godfall tells a tale of betrayal between two brothers with the player’s character Orin set to stop his brother Macros.

Combo-driven combat utilising a fun variety of melee weapons and a shield make for an enjoyable near-ten-hour adventure. Play time can be exponentially blown out by exploration, side-missions and grinding for better gear drops and customisation by farming resources."

"Last Stop is a unique supernatural adventure from the playable perspective of three protagonists. Each character has their own story that spans seven chapters that gradually sees their lives overlap and interconnect, even though they don’t know it.

A charming art design, playful score and assortment of themes come together for a surprisingly good experience that doesn’t quite wrap things up as well as it sets them up."

REVIEW - NO THING

“NO THING is a minimalistic surreal action game set in the totalitarian regime of the future. Tells the story of an office clerk who is sent with an important message to the Queen of Ice.” That’s the official description for NO THING.

This auto-running first-person experience is certainly unique. Rife with visual glitches and distortion – important to state that this is by design, NO THING is weird and unusual. With gameplay limited to pressing left or right to change direction that doesn’t mean that it’s easy. Tight timing is critical to progress and failure results in the level having to be restarted. There really is nothing quite like NO THING.
