After thirty years, DePaul's Literary Magazine has changed its name from Threshold to Crook & Folly.

Our second Literature Award Winner of Edition 42 is Evan Vetter with his piece (beginning of chat history). Here is a short excerpt of his work! (beginning of chat history) is so structurally unique, presenting a topic that is relevant to so many readers. The piece encapsulates how it feels to be entering a new stage of life and puts into words a feeling that is very hard to name. For our 42nd Edition, was one of two Literature Award winners chosen by our editors in chief! His poem Bursting is an intensely beautiful and effortless piece of writing. Bursting is honest and vulnerable, yet tender and humorous at the same time, and we are so excited to be able to spotlight it in this year’s edition. She’s originally from Charleston, SC and loves Crook & Folly because of the creative voice it offers DePaul students. Emma also appreciates the unique opportunity the publication gives to be apart of something curated and run by students for students! 💫💫

We are SO excited to start up introductions for this year’s staff with one of our amazing Co-Editors in Chief, Jacquie! Jacquie is a senior majoring in English with a concentration in literary studies, as well as a minor in general psychology. Originally from the Palos Verdes Peninsula, she has been with Crook and Folly for all 4 years of her time at DePaul!! Jacquie loves the publication because it highlights valuable work and amazing creatives within the DePaul community. Thank you for all you do! ✨✨

We are very excited to announce our first open mic night! Crook & Folly will be hosting an open mic in collaboration with DePaul Writers Guild on Oct. 22nd. Come share your short stories, creative nonfiction, poetry, and original music at 7PM in SAC 212!
