This little guy is going to turn one this month and there is a story about his first day of life that has defined the last 11 months.
His birth was chaotic- the doctor barely had time to come catch him and I was in and out of consciousness…. He cried a little just to say- “I am good” and then he looked around taking everything in. There was almost an aura of an old man inside of him- wiser than his body.
The next day, while I napped, my husband took him for a walk in the hospital hallway and he came back and said “ I know babies are not supposed to be able to see much in the first few months, but he can!” Apparently, S was staring at the paintings and would move his head towards them if my husband moved away. I thought my husband was kidding, but as S grows, we now know that he does things differently. He said mama by 5 months, he was hellbent on walking by 10 months, there hasn’t been one toy that has held his interest for more than a minute or an object he hasn’t figured out. He is strong willed and persistent like no other baby we have met- and we thought his brother was those things too.
Today, I put on some classical music and he came to sit next to me on the couch and just sat there for several minutes listening to the music. The most time I have seen him sit still since birth. It’s like he was appreciating it…
…sounds crazy saying these things out loud, but I know one day it will all make sense… and I feel so blessed to be able to experience life through my kids’ eyes in a way I haven’t before. I have so much to learn.

I posted another homeschool review on YouTube about the curriculum we have used for Math the last two years. It’s a little long, but includes everything I wish I had known when I was first starting out.

So so proud of this guy! He just finished level 1 of his reading program and I can’t believe how much progress we made (watch my reels to see it for yourself).
When we decided to homeschool 2 years ago, I had big fears - would I be able to teach him math and reading?
I gave us until kindergarten… if things went South, I would send him to school. So so happy I don’t have to, because this guy is starting level 2 Math and reading this summer! And he still gets to play 90% of the day…👍

I love lighthouses. They are symbol of hope and care as they used to light the way back home for sailors….a great reminder of what home is, the values we cherish and hold to be true.
I hope you had a great memorial day weekend. As a veteran family, we celebrated the lives lost in service, especially the 13 servicemen and women who died in the withdrawal from Afghanistan last year.

Missing this guy today. You might never guess, but he is my little brother. We finally got together again after 3.5 years- with 2 extra kids in the family!

Posting ahead because I will certainly forget to tomorrow.
So glad my kids get to call these two grandma! They are the most amazing, strongest, most loving, caring and inspirational women.
The bedrock to our families and the ones who insist we take time to get together and create more wonderful memories.

I get it now how people say it’s pretty hard to get pictures together with multiple children… phone storage is full and I am unable to delete photos unless everyone looks awful…😂😭anyone else keeps the try outs….??

We spent the day . We learned about its history being part of 3 wars and a Nasa recovery. So cool to be in a museum inside an aircraft carrier and be able to see so much! We even saw a space shuttle!!

Sloan turned 7 months a few days ago! He is crawling, sitting up by himself, has started solid foods, screams a lot, has said his first word- “mama” of course- and is trying to pull himself up on things. He has a smile on most of the time which melts my heart. Things he loves: playing with his brother, sleeping with his mom, being tickled, hanging upside down, taking a bath, chewing on anything and everything, seeing himself in the mirror or the phone, being read to, going for walks, sleeping outside in cold weather (both of my kids) and getting his hands on anything electronic- he is obsessed with our phones, tablets and computers!!! Not to play with them, but to chew on them.😂Things he does not like: being still and not getting what he wants. Got to be always on the move or part of the fam… or he will let you know he is unhappy- by screaming or throwing mini tantrums ( full body ones!😱)
He is in a lot of ways a lot like his older brother at his age, which means, there will never be a calm, quiet, negotiation free, dull day in our house for the next 18 years! 🤪

I can’t believe it’s the middle of March! 2022 has been very eventful already. We reached a major milestone in our life plan (retirement), we traveled to Brazil for a month to see family that we hadn’t seen in 3.5 years, all 4 of us got Covid ( super mild), recovered, came back, went to ski and all 4 of us got sick and have been sick for a month (sinus, unknown virus, ear infection, pink eye…) ! ! I guess that is what happens when you don’t get exposed to normal diseases for 2 years.
We are finally on the mend ( after 3 rounds of antibiotics for Roark 😱) and are up in the mountains for our last ski trip of the season.
Our plans for this year have been upended due to current events, so we are here plotting our next chapter… going back to this gorgeous place wouldn’t be a bad plan B in my opinion. I think R would agree!

Sloan is 6 months old today! How true it is that time flies. He is already kinda crawling, rolls both ways, sits up almost by himself and has started munching on some veggies and fruits. His personality is already coming through as a very alert and smiley baby. And as a squawker! And by that I mean he screams at us to get our attention😂. Happy 6th months my sweet baby! You bring us so much joy. We love you so much!!!

Here are a few observations for the season. - No reservations required. - Masks are not required outdoors or in most places. - Vaccine card required for those 12+ inside the resort cafeterias. A pic of the card on your phone works. - No vaccine card required to eat in any other restaurant in the villages or in town. - During the week, there are no lines to the lifts and awesome discounts on lodging. - No daycare available this year.👎 - If you need an instructor at Keystone for the kiddos- highly recommend Austin. R had lessons with him for 2 days and loved it!
