When it comes to business, it can be tempting to get so consumed by your work that it becomes your entire life. However: this. is. not. sustainable.

It leads to burnout, frustration, and overwhelm for both you and your team.

Entrepreneurship is challenging, but you don't have to live this way. By creating a vision, you can focus your actions to reach your business goals - which can allow you to build a business that is not only profitable but also fulfilling.

Are any of these holding you back?

1. NOT HAVING A SOLID BUSINESS FOUNDATION:

If you don’t have a long-term vision in place, you’re stunting your opportunity for growth. What does success look like for you? How do you know if you’ve reached your goals if you haven’t defined any? Other foundational pieces to make sure you have defined: your mission, core values, target market profile, and messaging.

1. EVERYTHING IS IMPORTANT

So nothing is important. Even with a team, there’s a good chance you can’t do all the things. You’re going to have to determine what is important and will move you closer to the vision you have set for yourself.

1. YOU HAVE NO PLAN

Quarterly plans keep things focused and productive. Knowing where you're going and how you'll get there allows you to set achievable goals instead of being stuck in indecision or reacting endlessly without moving forward on anything important.

Does this sound familiar?
You start a business.
It begins to grow - but you don’t know what you don’t know.
You add one piece at a time. CRM ✅. Project management tool ✅. Accounting tool ✅.
But soon, your business starts to look like it's being held together with duct tape and a prayer - hiding the seems and hoping that no one looks too closely. Your business has been successful - if somewhat chaotic - but there are gaps, and you’re struggling to scale.

Put the duct tape down...and slowly back away. Just kidding...

But really, here’s a few things you need to start to scale your business:
👉 Take a holistic view of your business. Evaluate what you have and where the gaps are.
👉 Decide on where you want to be in 3-5 years. Write 👏 it 👏 down 👏 and be specific. What does success look like?
👉 Build a plan to help you get from here to there - from where you are now to where you want to be.
👉 What is one thing you can do this quarter, this month, this week, today to start taking steps toward your vision?
This is quite a process, to be honest - but the reward is 🤯.

Avoiding your to-do list? 🤔

Procrastination can be a huge setback in your business. Here are a few reasons for procrastination:

- Abstract goals
- Feeling overwhelmed
- Outcomes that are too far in the future

How to fix:

- Set goals that are attainable and specific
- Prioritize what needs to happen first (what is the most important? What will move the needle in your business the most?)
- Let’s be honest...when you have a BIG AUDACIOUS, AMBITIOUS, AMAZING GOAL, it can be kind of intimidating. It also usually takes a while to come to fruition. The best thing you can do for yourself is work backward: Break down your goal into monthly goals, then into weekly goals, and then into one action for today that will get you closer to your goal.

BONUS: Keep a running list of your wins so that you can see how far you’ve come - then use those wins as a springboard towards new wins. Reviewing your last quarter, month, and week are important for quick course-correcting actions!

Build. A. Business. You. Love.

I will say it 1 million and a ½ times.

Build a business you love.

Is this you:
💜 I want to love my business…but I’m so overwhelmed.
💜 I feel unsupported, stuck, and overworked, how can I possibly love my business right now?
💜 I am flying an airplane…that I’m building in the air…and it might be on fire…I don’t have time to think about loving my business, I’m just trying to survive.

I get it. I’ve been where you are. I’ve felt that deep down in my soul. I wanted to run my own business, so WHY WAS I STRUGGLING SO MUCH 😫

The truth is, I didn't love what I was doing, so I pivoted. HARD. And when I ended up in a business doing things that I enjoyed, and I still struggled to love my business, it left me with the question…why?

After reflecting, it came down to a few things.

1️⃣ The first business offers I had didn’t align with what I actually wanted to do - and they didn’t align with my personality and vision - so I pivoted.

2️⃣ The second offers that I had were exactly what I wanted to do, BUT I didn’t create a plan for how to grow or what to work on. I spent so much time trying to figure out what to do next.

3️⃣ After I sat down and developed the foundation of my business - my Mission, Vision, and Values - my business transformed into something that I love. Everything aligns, and I’m making so much more progress.

If you’re struggling to love your business, you don't have to completely change the services you offer. That was my story.

However, it might be time to deep-dive into your Mission, Vision, and Values to build your business foundation.

3️⃣ Dedicate time to your business during the week. Don’t just willy-nilly it - write it down and protect that time. You can’t build a business if you’re not actually…you know…building it.
