FLOODED SIOGI CULVERT BREAKS OFF ROAD LINK TO POM.

(Monday March 11, 2024)

The People of Badiroho, Kerea 1, Wame & Beto villages almost missed a spot at Gordon's market, if not for the quick response from local PMV operator's.

ANR PMV from Nebilyer (Hagen) couldn't cross over the Siogi Creek due to the flood after Sunday nights rain. The driver, Tebe and Crew called the owner of the PMV, Anthon Ruimb Namba to send it's other PMV to their rescue.

The passengers were eager to travel into POM with their garden produce to sell. Luckily for them, the other PMV truck owned by the same operator came to the other side of the creek where the cargo was quickly offloaded to the waiting vehicle.

Farmer and Parent Leslie from Beto village was thankful to the PMVs for their swift response. He said he was looking forward to this days sale to pay up his children's outstanding school fees. It was a relief for him when his garden produce was finally brought into Port Moresby and sold out.

The Vanapa River which flows out from the Udaba Valleys in Woitape LLG, Goilala District have the potential to wash away major structures, animals and even human beings.

It is advisable to be at the higher grounds when the river is flooding.

☁️🌡️ Weather Reading for Tuesday March 12th, 2024!

We experiencing heavy downpour in the early hours of this morning.

According to the weather chart, our average temperature for the day is 22°c and humidity at 70%.

Most likely, it will cease raining between 8.30 am to 10.30 am. Little showers will pickup from 11.30 - 1.00 pm and hopefully, the afternoon part of the day will experience heavy downpour.

Villages close to the river are advised that a possible flooding of the Vanapa River will likely take place between 8am and 12 pm with the river bursting it's banks.

The villagers are strongly advised not to cross the river or allow children to cross the river at any cost.

Thank you and stay safe.

WAME SMALL SCALE ALLUVIAL MINING WARDEN HEARING

(Friday 08th, March 2024)

A Team of Geologists and Company officials from Dengxian Engineering Limited, the Operator visited Wame village on Friday March 08th to officiate the Warden Hearing for a Alluvial Mine Lease (AML 1147).

Gathered at this occasion were local Koiari Landowners from Wame, Boine, Gosisi and lower Kerea Villages including Badiroho 1 & 2.

The mine warden hearing was to discuss alternatives and suggest possibilities for an Alluvial Gold Mine Operation to commence when all necessary paperwork is prepared and submitted to obtain a Mining License from MRA.

For the Boine and Wame people, this news comes as relief in light of the economic pressure they face each day. To them, development such as this is the only answer to many of their worries.

The proposed Alluvial mining will not only open up opportunities, but will expose the wealth and beauty of this hideous paradise nestled at the foot of the Owen Stanley!

This is a milestone achievement for the Koiari People and we share their momentous celebration for this occasion.
