Watch Angie and Ruth at https://mccartney.com/?p=29570 as they get founding member and drummer of to about this legendary band's 5+ decade career, and their latest smash contemporary blues hit which is Grammy® eligible for 2025!
Foghat continues to captivate fans of all ages with their timeless music. The band is still touring relentlessly, performing with an energy that radiates youthful exuberance, regardless of age. Founding member and drummer Roger Earl reflects on their enduring appeal: “We had a terrific time making this record. Six original tracks and six of some of our favorite songs by other artists. It’s interesting to note that our first album in 1972 featured a Willie Dixon song, ‘I Just Want to Make Love to You,’ and a Chuck Berry song, ‘Maybellene.’ This record includes songs from both of these legendary writers! Apparently, our musical tastes haven’t changed much!”
Their latest album, "Sonic Mojo," released on November 10, 2023, holds special meaning for Earl. Three tracks were co-written with Kim Simmonds, who gave Earl his first break in 1967 as a member of Savoy Brown. Tragically, Simmonds passed away shortly after writing these songs. The album has been incredibly well-received by fans and critics alike, serving as a fitting tribute to a band that has stood the test of time for over 50 years.

Join Angie & Ruth on Tuesday August 6th at 11:30am Pacific / 2:30pm NYC at https://fb.com/DrAngieMcCartney as they visit with filmmakers Christopher Henze, Dominique Debroux and Oscar® winning producer Jonathan Sanger ("Elephant Man, Vanilla Sky, Frances and more) when they'll discuss their new documentary "WISE WOMEN" and how it reveals the mystery of menopause and the importance of women in our society.
The subject of menopause, once sidelined to the realms of whispers and shame has recently been elevated into the mainstream by personalities like Oprah, Michelle Obama, Halle Berry, Naomi Watts and Gwyneth Paltrow. They, along with many others, are aware of the giant void of quality information about this incredibly confusing and important time. A new documentary takes a fresh look at early human development and finds a new interpretation to menopause that results in The Wise Woman Hypothesis. One conclusion is that, for early humans, conditions favored groups who excelled in the complexity of family and group social management. and had a greater influence of mature post-reproductive females in that management.
When the filmmaker’s Co-producer and wife started going into perimenopause, beyond the physical symptoms of hot flashes, body changes, sleep issues, and brain fog, she felt a dread that much in her life was over. She initially researched supplements, HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) or treatments that might help her feel better. But none of those things would solve the general societal message that her usefulness was largely done.
This new documentary, Wise Women, dives into something fundamental that will change evolutionary science and elevate our understanding of how we became modern humans. It answers why menopause exists and shows evolutionary proof that women, especially mature women, are best equipped to run the world. It connects the dots of how mastering fire and cooking changed the trajectory of early hominins from other primates, and how the adaptation of menopause supercharged that trajectory.
Currently the most heralded answer to the existence of menopause in humans is the Grandmother Hypothesis which looks at the effect of post-menopausal woman on birth-frequency, infant brain development and other notable ideas. “We see the Grandmother Hypothesis as a reinforcing concept, rather than an initiating one.” Says director Christopher Henze. “We ask, how did our brains get to be large enough to even make use of the beneficial effects of grandmothers?” Menopause first affected our evolution then allowing “grandmothering” to accelerate it.
Additionally, Wise Women shows that, because post-menopausal women were so important to our survival and development, they were venerated. Most pre-historic art that has been found depicts women. “I think the Venus Figurine most resembles the physicality of a post-menopausal woman.” Says Christopher. It’s likely that we lived matriarchally for most of human history then something occurred 10,000 years ago that changed everything. The film concludes its journey asking how we’re doing now and suggesting that a swing back to a more matriarchal structure could be more natural.
Christopher and his wife Dominique Debroux worked on the hypothesis for years and the project accelerated when the team was joined by Oscar winning producer Jonathan Sanger. Jonathan is known for movies such as Elephant Man, Frances, Vanilla Sky, Marshall and Cabrini. Reports from Crone – The Wise Woman Hypothesis test screenings are very good. “I’m happy that audiences are understanding the information and enjoying the film so much. One review I loved was simply, ‘Wow, Wow, Wow!’” says Christopher. Jonathan adds “Audiences are thinking that it is timely, important, and especially relevant in today’s uncertainty and challenge of a world led by patriarchy.” Dominique notes “We have now been communicating about the movie on social media and the response has been amazing. So many of the women are expressing feelings like—Yes, I knew this to be true and someone is actually listening to us!”
A good deal of our test screeners have been so moved by the film to ask how they can be part of this “movement” beyond communicating about it. We started a go-fund-me at https://gofund.me/80a37866 to raise the funds to elevate the film and do the finishing steps. People can give and be directly involved in bringing this film and project to the public.

Join the Gals once again next Tuesday July 30th at https://fb.com/drangiemccartney at 11:30am Pacific for Tuesday with their charming guest, writer and author Helen Rose Marketti as they chat about her fascinating Beatles' themed book "The Long and Winding Phone" from Blue Jade Press, LLC, and how she came to connect with all the people she interviewed from the ever growing
Here is some more about Helen Rose in her own words:

"Watching television footage of The Beatles from their first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show from 1964 began my interest in rock n’ roll music. Even though I was only five years old at the time when I discovered them I was still impacted by the way they sounded and looked.

I received an RCA stereo as a birthday present along with an Elvis Presley album when I was eight years old. The stereo could play 45 and 33 records as well as 8-track tapes! I could also switch a button between AM and FM radio stations. I spent countless hours playing records and changing the radio station until the well worn dials and switches had finally exhausted their purpose.

My other strong passion is that of writing. I’ve always enjoyed writing essays, poems, letters and keeping a journal. I like the process of putting thoughts together on paper. Reading the works of others and how they arrived at their finished product has always been of interest to me as well since we all have different ways of how events and experiences are perceived.

I looked for opportunities during my high school and college years to write an essay about Buddy Holly, submit a poem about the loss of John Lennon or do a class presentation on Woodstock ’69. I would always have a purpose to write and share something with my classmates and peers about rock and roll.

Combining both of my interests for writing and rock music has presented a way to put thoughts and conversations together and create written works with the intention for others to enjoy, appreciate and think about.

I currently write for LifeStyles Magazine (www.lifestyles2000.net) which is a family oriented publication that serves several areas within Northwestern Ohio.

I also write for The North Coast Voice Magazine (www.northcoastvoice.com) which is an entertainment magazine that serves Cleveland, Ohio and surrounding Northeastern areas.

My columns for both publications relate to rock and roll (classic to present), pop culture and the like. I believe that talking with others about what inspires and motivates them is a rewarding experience.

Other ways in which I keep my interests active and fresh is to attend various gigs and performances by different artists. I am a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame & Museum in Cleveland, Ohio. I like to travel, read and meet people who are active participants in their lives and enjoy what they do.

A lilting look at the Irish poetic format of the Limerick, featuring whimsical verse about icons of pop culture, the 1960's and iconic places in Liverpool, London and "across the universe." An ideal travel (or bathroom) companion for baby boomers, their grandkids and fans of the Fab Four.
