Duel-effort this weekend, as I partnered with Rolling Sounds Entertainment to put on 3 amazing shows this past Saturday. We battled all the elements…scorching sun, high winds, followed by a torrential downpour! ☀️ 💨 🌧️ (even one wedding being outside, sorry Mike! Lol) But my team can ALWAYS persevere!

10 years ago I was looking for DJ work on Craigslist, trying to desperately sell myself to anyone that would hire me. Fast forward to accomplishing 9 weddings in 1 weekend. I didn’t even have that many weddings the first YEAR I started!

Branching out can be a daunting move, but I know my team can deliver that same “wow factor” that has gotten myself this far. After 10 years, it takes a lot to impress me in this business, but each member on this team has unique qualities that even I admire, and I really mean that. Self-taught skills like mixing and MCing, or even innate ones like charisma & drive. These guys possess it all. I’ve always joked about cloning myself…but where’s the fun in that? What we have is variety, and thats way better! You don’t need to “be the best” at what you do, you just have to “do your best”… that’s what an audience will really love and appreciate…

What a phenomenal honor to return to my high school and present to the future entrepreneurs & leaders of America. If you would have told freshman me… the wallflower…the shy guy, that I would be doing this, I would have never believed it for a second. All I can hope for is to just be the spark for these young adults and get their gears turning at the endless career opportunities out there. To encourage them to follow their dreams and with the right learned literacy tools, how easy it actually is to thrive in a career you enjoy…

I’d be totally lying if I said I didn’t have fun DJing the Taylor Swift dance party this past Sunday at Bolingbrook Golf Club. I was probably a Swifty before most of these girls were even born 😅 hey, no shame here!

Love a good ol’ fashion wedding, but this was a great change of pace from the norm. Being a father to girls now, I really wanted to go all out and make sure these kiddos had the best time possible, because I know I would want my girls to love it at that age…. So I brought out the works! Hula hoops, limbo, freeze dance, lipsync competitions, music video montage, and the fogger! 😮‍💨

** POSITIVE POST ALERT**

Every now and then I’ll get to work one of those weddings where all the stars just align and create the perfect day…and that was surely the case for Kaitlin & Luke’s wedding last weekend, lemme tell ya! Wedding planning CAN be stressful, we know this!…but, I’m a firm believer that if you go into the day stress-free & positive, you WILL attract & create that same energy from everyone attending. There was never a doubt in my mind that these two did not anticipate a perfect day. All smiles the whole evening.

Another key stress-eliminator is when you hire all the right vendors to ensure the day goes smooth. Our jobs are different, yet interconnected, so YOU and your guests have the best experience and of course lasting memories. I cant say enough great things about Millburn Stables. One of the most beautiful modern barn venues I have yet to encounter, all the way down to the their impeccable (and delicious!) catering staff. Also had the privilege of working side by side with one of my favorite dynamic-duos out there Something Blue Photography. So when all these "stars" are aligned and guests are happy, I’m almost guaranteed to have a rocking dance floor….and thats exactly how it was for.... every. single. minute of it 🥳

Congrats to Mr. & Mrs. Matt & Mary Fulton!!!

Last Friday was personally my first wedding for 2024 and I couldn’t have had the honor to work with a better couple at one of my favorite venues. Three months was the longest I’ve ever went w/o touching DJ equipment, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t semi-nervous setting up before the wedding. But as soon as everything was tested, & powered up and the guest arrived…. all that completely went out the window and I felt at home again.

To the Fulton’s…. thank you for trusting in me personally, and being incredibly easy-going from the planning process all the way to the very last minute of the night. You (and all your guests) kindness does NOT go unnoticed. I hope I delivered an incredible night for you both and Sloane!

The past few years I’ve made January my “reset” month. It’s when I’ll escape the Chicago cold and unwind after a fulfilling, yet always challenging year or DJing. I use it as an opportunity to force myself to breath again and pat myself on the back… but also reinvigorate myself with fun new ideas and approaches to grow and keep it fresh (because after 10 years you have to!)

Well, this year my challenge has been growing laterally… I’m talkin sometimes 3/4 events simultaneously. I’ve been doing it…but maybe not as well as I could be. I was suggested this book by Stephanie at Buena Beats when I met them at an expo and boy I wish I had it in my hands 5 years ago! A book dedicated to growing your business, SPECIFICALLY for mobile DJs… like, what!?!😊

Michael Walter, I’m only a 1/4 through and I’m loving it. All still completly relevant 12 yrs later. Hoping to cross paths with you at one of the big conventions soon and shake your hand 👏🫡 Thank you for spilling all your secrets, and consolidating a lifetime of knowledge for future multi-op guys like myself…

Seriously. 🤯 Beyond cool...And the best part is there's a few other couples not even IN this pic that should be, as I had to randomly snap this right before the ceremony!
