As many of you know, we lost a wonderful, sweet, kind, long-time member of the background community a week ago.

Nathan Gleason passed away Monday, Sept 2nd, 2024.

💐 🕯️A memorial service will be held in Spring 2025.

I met him when I worked on one of my first big films: Cowboys and Aliens. I was working as Elizabeth Gabel's assistant and Nathan was already a seasoned background actor. This was 2009.

He and his brother, Thomas, made it, I think, to every western movie or television production shot in New Mexico. Nathan was always early to set and sad to leave it at wrap. His cheerful attitude and eagerness to work made working with him a joy.

He always wanted to be one of the first to schedule a costume fitting so he could be assured of a costume. Being 6' 4" made finding a costume challenging at times. Being a problem solver, Nathan ended up buying his own 19th-century period-correct outfit. This helped out the costume dept and they all loved him, not just for bringing his own costume, but because he was a gracious man who loved working on movies.

I'll miss him dearly.

I’m saddened to hear that Duncan Walker died in a car accident last week as he traveled home to see family.

Duncan worked with us on American Primeval, She Rides Shotgun and Ransom Canyon. He was a pleasure to know. He was an interesting guy and had a great attitude. He enjoyed being on set and I was thrilled when I could hire him.

He is missed.
