God gives free will to his creative art (us humans) to glorify Him ONLY by living purposeful lives, as intended for man and woman, created by God and captured in the mind of God before the beginning of time itself.

Anything else used aside from glorifying God or to use the gift of free will, of freedom, in art, in sport in all its diversity, to twist the purpose of God for man and woman, through an expression of freedom, using drag queens to celebrate the Olympics, mocking the passover supper that led to mans freedom (or for a better word permitting mans freedom access into Gods presence) to enter into a fellowship with the all sovereign, all sinless God, the Almighty God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, is non other but Sin or (for a better word) Rebellion, against God.

As such, on this premise, Malaita Issues will like to make a statement that Malaita Issues, outright 𝐫𝐞𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬, any arguement that borders upon celebrating the use of our freedom and expression to twist the purposes of God for man and woman, mocking the passover and calls on all Malaitans to refrain from watching the openning ceremony of the Olympics or to ascribe to any of its imagery content used to celebrate the pagan god, Zeus in its opening.

The Malaita Provincial Government (MPG) is gearing up for a grand celebration to mark its second appointed day this year. A committee has been set up to plan the event, which will span 4 days leading up to the main celebration on August 15th.

One of the highlights of the celebration will be a Mini Trade Show in the capital town of Auki, which will run from August 11th to August 15th, 2024. The event will feature live bands, cultural performances, and a variety of stalls showcasing products and services from businesses and NGOs.

Businesses and NGOs interested in participating in the Mini Trade Show are encouraged to secure their space by applying for a stall. There are a total of 192 spaces available for stall installations, with the following fee structure:
1. Corporate Stalls (big businesses) - $1,000.00 (inside the venue)
2. Local and individuals or sole traders - $500.00 (outside the venue)

The fee covers the entire duration of the event, spanning five days. Interested parties are advised to act promptly to secure their space and avoid any inconvenience. Malaita Issues acknowledges Maverick and his contributions to the Commonwealth Youth platform and towards Malaita as a young inspirational leader and influencer and also to our young people outside of Malaita Province.

Indeed corruption is a systemic issue in our country that destroys good governance and as a people we must also heed the call for good governance in all our approaches to work, business and life, so thank you Maverick for rasing this concern on the Commonwealth Youth platform.

𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐚 𝐈 𝐓𝐨𝐥𝐨 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥.

The Mala-i-Tolo curriculum at Busurata Secondary School has been a great blessing for the Form 4 students this year. Introduced last year, this is the second year the program has been offered at the school.
Tolo teacher Lesley Sanga highlighted that the successful completion of the Mala-i-Tolo curriculum is a significant achievement for both the students and everyone involved.
“This year, we covered around ten topics, including Kwara’ae League, Kwara’ae culture, Kwara’ae forest, Kwara’ae medicinal plants, Kwara’ae wild foods, and more,” Mr. Sanga said.
The students have thoroughly enjoyed these topics, thanks to the student-centered approach and the extensive field visits integrated into the curriculum.
Mr. Sanga noted that the students also researched Kwara’ae medicinal plants, focusing on treatments for coughs, and wrote about Kwara’ae native vegetables. “It’s clear that the students have really embraced the curriculum,” he remarked.
On behalf of the students, Alison Aramo expressed her appreciation, stating, “This curriculum has been a blessing for us. We’ve learned about our native languages, traditional ways of life, and our roots.”
Miss Aramo pointed out that this form of education is distinct from the typical focus on foreign history. “We have enjoyed this learning experience because it connects us to our heritage,” she added.
She also mentioned that the students had the opportunity to visit elders who shared insights into ancestral worship practices before the advent of Christianity.
“On behalf of the students, I want to thank Mala-i-Tolo for this initiative that has helped us reconnect with our heritage. We are grateful to the program’s initiators and to the teachers who have implemented it.
Special thanks to Lesley Sanga for his dedication in teaching us these valuable lessons, even though they are new to us,” Miss Aramo concluded.

This morning, on July 18, 2024, the Plan International team and the Solomon Islands National Youth Congress (SINYC) had a courtesy visit with the Premier of Malaita, Hon. Premier Elijah Asilaua, and his Deputy Secretary.

Premier Asilaua expressed his gratitude to Plan International for the visit and for briefing him on their upcoming initiatives in the province. He emphasized the importance of keeping his office informed about the organization's plans for the community.

Following the Premier's welcome remarks, Plan International Country Manager (CPM) Clement Manuri provided an overview of Plan International, its purpose, current projects, and implementation methods. He also explained the involvement of SINYC and the Youth Division in these initiatives. Additionally, the CPM discussed the potential for Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with the provincial government.

The Premier acknowledged and appreciated Plan International SI for selecting Malaita for the YECA project, noting that the project outcomes align with his government's policies on addressing youth unemployment and the climate crisis. He pledged his government's support through the provincial youth division and expressed his anticipation of successful outcomes from the project team.

Lastly, Premier Asilaua extended a verbal invitation to Plan International and SINYC to participate in the Second Appointed Day celebrations, scheduled for August 12-16 in Auki. He mentioned that the event would feature stalls from various organizations showcasing their work.

In the heart of Marau Sound, the Wahere community—a small yet vibrant village—has undergone a remarkable transformation, thanks to the establishment of a Savings Club, an integral part of the broader Market Linkage Project Phase II (MLP2) implemented by World Vision Solomon Islands (WVSI). This initiative funded by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) has become a beacon of hope, dramatically improving the lives of community members through financial empowerment and stability.
One of the most significant impacts of the Savings Club has been on education. Prior to the club's establishment, many children in Wahere were unable to attend school due to the unaffordable costs of school fees. This all changed with the initiation of the Savings Club. By enabling parents to save and manage their finances better, the club has made it possible for more children to attend school, thereby securing a brighter future for the next generation.
In addition to education, healthcare access has also seen a marked improvement. The Savings Club provides financial support that families can rely on for medical expenses. This has been a critical development in a community where access to immediate funds for healthcare was previously a significant challenge.
The Savings Club has also empowered community members to pursue entrepreneurial ventures. Small loans from the club have enabled individuals to start or expand small businesses, particularly in local markets. This has not only increased household incomes but also stimulated the local economy.
Hilda Rouikera, a community member, shared her experience stating: "Through the project, we were able to save money. Many go fishing, sell their catch to the fishery, and then save part of their earnings in the savings group. Before, it was hard to find money for loans or contributions. Now, the savings club makes it easier to manage expenses for things like church contributions and school fees."
Allen Kahunimae, an elder in the community, also highlights how the club has brought about a more organized and financially literate community. He emphasized that men are now more involved in financial planning and decision-making, which has led to more balanced and thoughtful economic activities within households.
"There is a noticeable difference with children attending school. Before the MLP2 project, many children couldn't attend because of school fees. After the MLP2 project, more children are attending school," said Mr. Kahunimae.
WVSI National Director Jimmy Nadapdap firsthand learned about the impact of the Savings Club during his recent visit to the community. He was inspired by the stories of transformation and recognized the positive changes brought about by the MLP2 project in the community.
The Savings Club has fostered a sense of solidarity and mutual support within the community.

WARD 5 DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE (MALAITA) ENDS ITS FIRST LEADERSHIP AND MINDSET TRAINING SUCCESSFULLY LAST WEEKEND.

The Ward 5 Development Committee has successfully completed its first Leadership and Mindset Training for its WDC members last weekend 13thJuly, 2024 at Gwaunatafu village in West Fataleka. More than 20 plus leaders in Ward 5 attended the training.

The Training helps the leaders to identify problems and challenges facing Malaita and particularly in West Fataleka today and to identify strengths, potential and the resources they have to transform the Ward and its people.
The training also encourages the members to have a change of mindset or attitude towards positive developments and changes which the communities in West Fataleka will encounter in the coming years.

The training also gave the opportunities for the leaders to share their vision and dreams that they want to see happening in their communities in the next ten years. The dreams shared by the leaders really encourages the members.

The second phase of the WDC Program will focus on night open-air talks that will begin this coming Thursday night (18/07/24) at Gwaunatafu community.

Phillip Subu, Malaita Youth Council President, Vice President of the National Youth Congress and also an existing member of the Board of Directors of the Pacific Youth Council, delivers opening remark.

This virtual briefing is a brief on the first ever, upcoming, Youth Ministers from all the Pacific Island nations, that will include Permanent Secretaries/ CEOs; Deputy Secretaries/ Deputy CEOs; Directors for the National Youth Machineries, Pacific Development Forum, Pacific Islands Alliance of Non-governmental Organizations, Pacific Islands Climate Action Network, CROP and United Nations Development Partners.

These engages should inspire other young Malaitans to develop the confidence to speak up and engage in youth activities and to never look down on yourself as someone who can also influence youth development on an international level including that of Malaita and your own country.

1. Honiara No tetanus medicine at the NRC Mbokonnavera clinic - no malaria medicine please pay your own

2. Malaita province. Sulufoloa Clinic - no medicine since last year Medical supplies from Honiara got stuck at Kiluufi Hospital, no fuel for truck to deliver medicine to Maluu and to all clinics in the Northen region.

Thanks to the MP for North Malaita for using his own family pick-up truck to deliver the 24 or 26 ctns of medicine to Maluu area health center.

𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐨𝐧 𝐊𝐢𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐚𝐤𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐨 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐥.

The renovation work on the Kilusakwalo School Hall and Extension project in Malaita Province is well underway and making significant progress.

This SBD $200,000. project was funded by the Peoples Republic of China and had been signed by His Excellency Cai Weiming, the Chinese Ambassador in Honiara, during his visit to the school on April 12 of this year.

This renovation project is a product of the ongoing partnership between the People's Republic of China and Malaita Province, aimed at enhancing educational facilities in the province .

Malaita Premier Hon Elijah Asilaua expressed his sincere appreciation for the continuous support provided by the People's Republic of China, particularly through its Embassy in Honiara, towards the development of the education sector in his province.

If you do know of Madeleine Ongavi Franks great great grandfather and tribal group, please do not hesitate to contact her, through her page and inform her of which ethnic group or tribe, her great great grandfather hails from, in Malaita.

Please, good people of malaita, be reminded, that these people, are our people and as such, in the case where they are trying to reconnect back with their roots, please treat them with kindness and respect and honest information, especially when providing her with the information her family needs.

These types of informations are important for her family, especially for generational passage of identity and acknowledgement of where they originally came from.
