"Hollow Path, in Louveciennes", an oil on canvas by Camille Pissaro painted in 1872.
This painting is in the Folkwang Museum in Hagen, Germany.
In 1871, the painter left London and returned to Louveciennes, his son Georges was born in 1871.
He paints passionately and tirelessly the landscapes that surround him according to the seasons, the hours of the day, working his moving landscapes that then take on the color of the subtle atmospheric sensations surrounding, thus he will illustrate the effects of rain on the wet pavements of the road of Versailles located not far away, the blooming of spring in the surrounding orchards, snow on the village
His art at this time has evolved, he paints with talent, sensitivity through short touches, characteristics of the early impressionism. However, at this time Pissaro remains poor and unknown.
Here, in this beautiful composition he paints this heavy snow in this hollow path lined with rosy reflections,
drawing with art this light, the shadows that play on the ground, on the roofs of the houses, under a blue gray sky, with the ethical trees rising to the storm of the sky. The illustrated perspective draws our gaze towards the extension of this hollow path and the scattered trees.

Elevator de Santa Justa Lisbon Portugal
The only vertical lift in Lisbon is the work of Raul Mesnier de Ponsard, an engineer originally from France but living in Oporto. It was inaugurated in 1902 in Art Nouveau style and serves to link downtown Lisbon with the Largo do Carmo by means of a viaduct. There is some wonderful ironwork, very specific to the era in which the lift was constructed. The structure is similar to a metallic tower in which you can go up to the esplanade and take in panoramic views over the city and the Tagus.
Quick history of the Elevador de Santa Justa
1896 – Lisbon council proposed the construction of a vertical lift
1900 – Construction started under the direction of Raoul Mesnier du Ponsard
31 August 1901 – The walkway and tower were inaugurated by King Carlos I
Late 1901 – The steam engine used to power the lift is installed at the top of the tower
10 July 1902 – The lift was inaugurated and opened to the public
1907 - An electric engine replaced the steam engine
2006 – Major restoration project and modern safety features added
