PRO7 HAILS LCPO COPs, NET OVER PHP20-MILLION WORTH OF ILLEGAL DRUGS IN LAPU-LAPU CITY

Two female suspects were arrested in the evening of May 8, 2024, for having been intercepted with 3,000 grams of suspected shabu with a standard drug price of PhP20,400,000.00 during the conduct of an intelligence-driven buy-bust operation at Sitio Kapaping, Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City.

Investigation revealed that these suspects can dispose up to 5,000 grams per week in some areas of Mandaue and Cebu City, and in some areas in the northern part of Cebu.

Leading the said police operation were the personnel of Police Station 4 together with the personnel of City Intelligence Unit/City Drug Enforcement Unit and Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group - Special Operations Unit.

The Regional Director, PBGEN ANTHONY A ABERIN, commended the collaborative efforts of the operating units involved in the arrest of the said high-value personalities which clearly affects the drug supply and demand in the city.

“Our massive accomplishments in the campaign against illegal drugs are pursuant to the BIDA Program of SILG Atty. Benjamin Abalos Jr. anchored on our collective desire of bringing peace and security in Central Visayas”, he added.

As of this writing, the arrested suspects are now detained at the custodial facility of Lapu-lapu City Police Office while documents are being prepared for the appropriate filing of charges in court for the violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, the confiscated volume of drugs and other pieces of evidence confiscated are submitted to the Forensic Unit for examination. (PRO7-PIO)

PNP WELCOMES APPOINTMENT OF PGEN ROMMEL FRANCISCO D. MARBIL AS 30th CHIEF OF PHILIPPINE NATIONAL POLICE

The Philippine National Police (PNP) warmly welcomes the appointment of Police General Rommel Francisco Dayleg Marbil as the 30th Chief of the Philippine National Police by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. With a distinguished career spanning 37 years, he brings a wealth of experience, dedication, and leadership to this esteemed position.

General Marbil, a distinguished member of the PMA Sambisig Class of 1991, has exemplified unwavering commitment and integrity throughout his tenure in service. His exceptional performance and leadership qualities have led to his appointment to various key positions within the organization.

Before assuming the role of Chief of the Philippine National Police, PGen Marbil served as the Director of the Directorate for Comptrollership, where he displayed remarkable competence and proficiency in financial management and oversight. His prior assignments include serving as the Regional Director of PRO 8, Director of the Highway Patrol Group, and in the Civil Security Group, Special Action Force, Presidential Protection Security Group, Agusan Del Norte Police Provincial Office, and Bacoor City Police Station during his earlier years. From 2006 to 2007, he was sent to a United Nations mission to Liberia.

PGen Marbil’s dedication to duty and his exemplary service record make him highly qualified to lead the Philippine National Police. His leadership will undoubtedly strengthen the organization’s resolve to maintain peace, order, and security throughout the nation. As we embark on this new chapter, we extend our full support and confidence in his ability to steer the Philippine National Police towards greater levels of excellence and service to the Filipino people.

We extend our congratulations to PGen Marbil on his well-deserved appointment and wish him continued success in his new role as the new Chief of the Philippine National Police.

The Retirement Honors for Chief, PNP PGen Benjamin C. Acorda Jr and the Assumption of Office of Police General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil were held today, April 1, 2024, at the PNP Transformation Oval at Camp Crame. PGen Marbil officially assumed the position of Chief PNP as PGen Acorda retired today. Chief, PNP Acorda, who was originally set to retire on December 3, 2023, had his term extended by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr until March 31, 2024.
