Would you walk across this wooden bridge through mangroves on each side to get to a pristine surf/beach. The Playa Avellanas bridge is also an excellent photo op spot attracting tourist to see the bridge. The surfing at Playa Avellanas is offshore fun waves. Definitely a cool spot to be.

Updated news: For the first time in 40 years the City of Long Beach regains full control of the historic Queen Mary housed in Long Beach Harbor.
LONG BEACH一 Long Beach City has regained full control of the Queen Mary and authorized a $2 million temporary caretaker contract with the current on-ship operator Evolution Hospitality.

On June 4 the city reported that the previous lease-owner Urban Commons Queensway LLC, a Long Beach-based traveling company that has been leasing the Queen Mary since 2016, was surrendering its existing leases and filing a motion to formally reject the leases through the bankruptcy process.

The lease was in default for several violations, including failure to maintain the ship caused in part by decades of deferred maintenance by previous operators.

On June 8, the Long Beach City Council voted to enter into a $2 million contract with Evolution Hospitality, a third-party hospitality management company, for a six-month extension on the current contract with the possibility of a six-month renewal.

One of my favorite surf spots in Southern California. The take off spot is literally off submerged rocks. On lower tide the rock is exposed and if you take off in the wrong spot you might be landing on dry rock. Kind of scary! Not to mention trying to paddle and surf through the kelp forest that surrounds the take off spot. This is not a secret spot but I am not going to tell you exactly the spot. All I will say is it’s just north of Malibu beach and was in the original Point Break movie with Keanu.

Malibu Surfrider beach. A good place to surf with someone famous like Jonah Hill. I heard he’s a big surfer now and longboards Malibu a lot.

Tustin Blimp Hangar at the former Marine Corps Air Station in Tustin, California measures 1,072 feet (327 m) long by 292 feet (89 m) wide by 192 feet (59 m) tall. It’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places and designated a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark. The two hangars, built in 1942 of Oregon Douglas fir, are among the largest free-standing wooden structures in the world. The base was designed for blimp operations in support of the Navy's coastal patrol efforts during World War II. This Hangar is slated to be included in a new park as the surrounding area is becoming residential homes. Many movies have been filmed here also.

Drone Long Exposure! Not as easy as it looks. You need good weather conditions to make it happen. The slightest movement when hovering can make your photos come out blurry. So lighter the wind the better. If it’s super windy, you’ll have pretty tough time getting a clean photo.
