šŸŽ„ NEW VIDEO šŸŽ„ (DELAYED POST)

Hereā€™s another ā€œPortraitsā€ video that I filmed during one of the photo shoots I did with my medium format camera :) this time round, we have the amazing Simon Gilchrist.

I was lucky enough to have been connected with Simon through a mutual friend a few years back and have had a chance to have worked with him on a couple of film projects.

Thank you again Simon for sharing your love and passion for acting, and for agreeing to do this photo shoot before you jetted off to Europe to expand on your craft šŸ¤— always enjoyed our hang outs and chats and look forward to when we cross paths again :) maybe on another film? āœŒļø

Hope you all enjoy the video ā˜ŗļø

šŸŽ„ NEW FILM šŸŽ„

Over the last few months thereā€™s been a lot of reflecting, getting in touch with how Iā€™ve been truly feeling, and just generally slowing down and trying to fall back in love with the ā€œprocess.ā€ Making this little film was such a breath of fresh air for me in a sense that, there was no plan or expectations other than to just create something for the sake of creating. Also letting go of the pressure of what that had to look like, and have it be an honest representation of where Iā€™m at. I guess ā€œgoing with the flowā€ was how this was made, which was nice :)

Thanks so much to my good friend John for helping me translate my writing into Korean. Iā€™ve been wanting more and more to get back in touch with my roots so I had another crack at speaking the language.

So I hope you enjoy this wee film, and also enjoy hearing me attempt to speak Korean šŸ˜… Youā€™ll probably hear a slight kiwi twang to those who are accustomed to the language but either way, itā€™s amazing to share this side of me with you all šŸ¤—

šŸŽ„ NEW VIDEO šŸŽ„ (DELAYED POST)

Over the last wee while, Iā€™ve found such joy in taking portraits with my medium format camera. I love the way that shooting with film slows down the overall process, which has also given me time and space to think about what shots I want to take. But most of all, I feel like it has allowed me to connect with the person Iā€™m taking photos of a lot more šŸ¤—

So during these shoots, itā€™s been fun to find some time to grab little sound bites of the personā€™s inspirations and why they love what they do :)

Thank you Lisa for sharing your love for acting and what inspires you. It was so lovely to have spent the afternoon connecting over our favourite movies, shows and just about life in general. Sharing a bit of Lana Del Ray and Linkin Park was also great too šŸ˜†

Hope everyone enjoys the video ā˜ŗļø

šŸŽ„ NEW FILM šŸŽ„

Starring:
Anna Dawson
Simon Gilchrist

Iā€™m super excited to be releasing this wee clip that I filmed and directed with two amazing and talented actors - Anna Dawson and Simon Gilchrist šŸ¤—

This idea came about when I connected with Simon about doing a film together. We knew we wanted to create something of our own and produce it, but we realised that was going to delay us in actually filming something. So we thought, while weā€™re crafting our own stories, why not take a scene from our favourite show or movie, and do our own version of it in the meantime? It was such an exciting way to keep the creative juices flowing and keep practising our craft. Let alone, I was over the moon when both Anna and Simon picked a scene from one of my favourite shows, Normal People. This definitely sparked a bit of a challenge to try and somewhat differentiate us to the show (because the show is perfect).

Again, thanks so much to you both for coming on board and doing this with me. It was such a fun and incredible experience and Iā€™m so stoked to have connected with you both. Super grateful and I canā€™t wait to keep creating more with you guys!

šŸ“½NEW FILM šŸ“½

Our new short film ā€œLettersā€ is here! Am so so pumped and excited to be releasing this. Itā€™s been such an awesome experience making this film and getting back into this world again.

Best of all, it has been so amazing to have worked with two incredible friends, Angela and Sam! Thank you so much for being part of this and creating this with me. Crazy to think we were complete strangers right before we started filming. Thanks for putting up with me with the endless long takes, some last minute changes and just overall trusting me throughout. Going through every take during the editing process and seeing your performances was such a delight. It has been such a fun journey and looking forward to whatā€™s next. So grateful to have been able to connect with you two during this šŸ¤—

I hope you all enjoy our little film and Iā€™m so thrilled to be back on this filmmaking path šŸ˜Š

šŸŽ„ NEW VIDEO šŸŽ„

Hereā€™s a video that I shot during the lower alert levels of last year (crazy to think itā€™s been that long) of me hanging out and catching up with my amazing friend Marianne Infante. Sheā€™s an actor, writer, producer and one of the legends behind PAT - Proudly Asian Theatre company. I thought itā€™d be fun to get ourselves out of the house and chat about her time on Shortland Street and how her journeyā€™s been as being the first Filipino actor playing a major role on mainstream television. We also thought itā€™d be fun to discuss this over some delicious meal from and incorporate a wee photoshoot in between. Iā€™m so thrilled and grateful to have been able to do this with you, Marianne, so thank you so much for opening up and having a chat. Also, thank you for your patience for this video to come out šŸ˜‚ to watch the full video, go to the link in the bio. Thanks again and hope you guys enjoy ā€œOver a Meal with Marianne Infanteā€ šŸ¤—

šŸŽ„ NEW SHORT FILM - ANOTHER MOOD PIECE šŸŽ„

It was so much fun making this wee short film with my good friend Cambrian Berry the other week. I loved how this came together where it was just me messaging him saying, ā€œI donā€™t really have an idea on a story or who the character is going to beā€¦all I know is the type of mood I want to convey. Wanna shoot something?ā€ He instantly responds, ā€œletā€™s do it!ā€ It was such an enjoyable process in creating this fictional character based off Camā€™s recent thoughts and feelings, and his day to day life. Thanks again Cam for doing this one with me and I look forward to making more films with you. Next time weā€™ll have a scriptā€¦or maybe not? šŸ˜‚šŸ˜…

Hope you all enjoy!

šŸŽ„ NEW FILM šŸŽ„

**Watch with headphones if possible āœŒļø**

I'm super pumped to be releasing this new little skate film "Flow" that I did with my good friend Sam Walton. It was a fun process to approach this film by focusing more on the insight of how skating gets implemented into his well being and his day to day life. To play around and get experimental with the soundscape and the general direction of this film was really exciting as well! So I hope you enjoy it and get moved by this as much as we do šŸ¤—

Thanks again Sam for agreeing to do this with me!!

šŸŽ„ NEW SERIES launched exclusively on Māori Televisionā€™s MĀORI+ app and website šŸŽ„

To coincide with the launch of his autobiography ā€˜PowerMoves: A Māori Entrepreneurā€™s Journey from the Benefit to the Boardroom,ā€™ Robett Hollis approached me to jump on board and document this crazy journey to travel from Cape Reinga to Bluff. His plan was to visit schools throughout the country, with the mission to destroy NZā€™s Tall Poppy Syndrome and talk to thousands of teenagers about dreaming bigger and saying .

Check it out here:
https://www.maoritelevision.com/shows/yes-success/S01E001/yes-success-episode-1

It was a trip that Iā€™ll always remember as it was such an emotional rollercoaster, especially hearing some of the harsh realities faced by these kids. But seeing Robett go into each school and present himself in a way that the youth could instantly connect and relate to was super-inspiring to witness.

Thanks again Robett for believing in me to tell your story and your mission.
