Now reading: the second in the Hugh Howey “Wool” series. Thoughts so far, it is a whopping 603 pages and worth it. It doesn’t pick up where the first book left off, but dips waaaay back in time to the origins of how the Silo situation started. BUT THEN…whoa nelly. He had me running for the first book to uncover layers and secrets. is quite the storyteller.

Now reading: something fun to start out the new year. Plus I am reading along with some pals and what’s better than reading AND friends? In my book (heh) nothing.

📚 Library Book Haul!
Q: Have you read any of these??
Q: What’s on YOUR summer reading list??

Figured it was about time for me to try some and give a whirl. Excited for Conclave after hearing good things about the movie and book. was an impulse pic because I generally like the selections. And finally, two copies of The Devil’s Highway because my husband and I are going to read it alone with our son for his AP English summer reading. YAY!!

The Cheerbrarian has been dormant for a while, but I’m still here, cheering on me and you and everyone.

54 degrees in Chicagoland means I’m busting out the hammock. And yes I’m in a sweatshirt and socks but still counts!!!!!! Also The God of the Woods is freaking amazing.

[EPISODE 43] - Cheerbrarian Presents - Anna Przy, mental health advocate, on taking risks, doing less, and loving yourself and the journey

Today I am delighted to be speaking with Anna Przy hilarious elder millennial content creator who tells us all to “keep it up cutie!” as she advocates for mental health and choosing happiness in your daily life.

IN THIS EPISODE:

Unsolicited Advice - I got to be the advice receiver from a content creator I truly adore. She has really cracked the code on being herself, and doing what makes her happy, rather than living according to anyone else’s standards, or to meet societal standards of productivity. A lot about today’s episode resonated with me, but in particular the lines: “there is no glory in burning yourself out” and “What’s wrong with taking the easier route” are now etched in my brain.

Unrequired Reading - Anna Recommended two books for us to check out, firstly, her motivational book, “Keep It Up Cuties: A Not-Quite Self-Help Book” and “Laziness Does Not Exist” by Dr Devon Price. For Anna, she’s into historical and romance, so I recommended “A Thousand Splendid Ships” by Natalie Haynes and “The Q***r Principles of Kit Webb” by Cat Sebastian.

That time that I tried to hold a physical book while walking on a treadmill. Was it my best idea? No. But not my worst, and better than no treadmill at all! Here the full story and more about how you can ease into the new year on this week’s pod.

EPISODE 42] - New Year Counterprogramming

It's a new year which makes it a nice time time for a fresh clean start, but often you bite off more than you can chew, and by mid January you feel like you're already off track. I'm here to help kick that attitude to the curb and share a few new ways to think about your new year.

ALSO I dropped the SUPER exciting news that next week’s guest is the hilarious and amazing , known on TikTok and Instagram for her engaging content about mental health. You don’t want to miss our convo!

IN THIS EPISODE:

Unsolicited Advice - Ease into the new year. Use January to give your space to try new things and see what works. Trial and error is part of the process. Looking for a framework? Come up with what YOU want more and less of in 2025. And remember, fight perfectionistic thinking by reminding yourself in the moment that if something is not ideal, that is just fine.

Unrequired Reading - Meditations for Mortals: Four Weeks to Embrace Your Limitations and Make Time for What Counts by Oliver Burkeman is a book I read at the end of last year, and I’m reading again!

13/01/2025

January should not be for big absolutes or high standards. Post-holiday back-to-work chilly temps no sun?! And we are out here trying to do and be the most?! I say NOPE. Instead, try gentleness, trial and error, and giving yourself a break.

New episode dropping tomorrow where I share more new year’s counter programming.

What are you excited to read this year? Here is all the goodness I’ve acquired over a few of my recent library visits. Will I read them all? Will they be featured on the podcast? Only time will tell.

Have you missed me? THE WAIT IS ALMOST OVER. I’ll be back with a shiny new solo episode next week, but in the meanwhile I’m excited to share something new for my listeners, my guested episode over on High Vibe Table Talks! Merchon and I had a great convo about “Digital Detox” and how redefining your relationship with technology can lead to a more balanced life. If you’re looking to spend less time on your phone in the new year, check it out!

We dove into the science behind smartphone addiction (spoiler: it’s not about willpower alone!) and discussed simple, guilt-free steps to set healthy tech boundaries. And of course, I shared some book knowledge from Catherine Price’s “How To Break Up With Your Phone.”

The holidays are a wrap and it’s back to a full week of work after a long break. There’s a lot of “maybe I left my motivation in my other pants” and “what exactly do I do here” and “but whyyyyyyyy” happening. You are not alone! I’m here to help you ease into it.

The first day after a long break isn’t a day to tackle everything and do the most and be a hero. It’s a day for starting. So whatever goals you make, focus on just starting, find your footing, and don’t worry about the end just yet.

Best of luck out there, everybody.
