📈What is a market cycle?

Market cycles are a natural advent in any market. However, because the NFT and crypto markets move so quickly, market cycles are especially important to understand.

In simple words, a market cycle is the period between a high and a low, and more broadly the stages in-between.

1️⃣Encrypt your data

Modern tools make it possible for anyone to convert data from a readable format to an encoded format. For instance, if you use protocols such as OpenPGP, your email becomes encrypted, while VPN apps cipher everything you store in the cloud.

2️⃣Back up your data
There are multiple ways to back up your data: copy everything to a USB stick, transfer your data to an external hard drive, utilize cloud storage, back up the files to network-attached storage, and for the Mac users out there — use the Time Machine.

3️⃣Anti-malware protection is a must
Advanced malware removal software makes it easy to prevent viruses🦠, trojans, ransomware, and other infections on your computing device. You may already be familiar with names such as Norton, McAfee, AVG, and Bitdefender.

4️⃣2FA is a MUST!

Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security that helps ensure that nobody can access one’s accounts. Even if the user’s password is hacked, a password alone is not enough to pass the authentication check.

5️⃣Use password managers

Password managers generate passwords, monitor accounts for security breaches, suggest changing weak passwords, and sync your passwords between your computer and phone. LastPass and 1Password are two examples.

6️⃣Have a backup account
Establish a backup phone and email and connect all your crucial accounts to them. Don’t ever use these accounts anywhere, keep them at home, and make sure they are operational.

7️⃣Use public equipment wisely
Always log out on public PCs after your session is over and make sure your credentials have not been saved.

Today, we are going to share the most high-profile cyberattack case that occurred in 2021 — the Colonial Pipeline hack.

🇲🇽 What is Colonial Pipeline?

Colonial Pipeline is one of the most vital oil pipelines in the U.S. that helps transfer oil from Mexico to the East Coast states.

💸 What happened?

In May 2021, ransomware gang DarkSide got into the network of Colonial Pipeline, stealing nearly 100 gigabytes and threatening to publish it all on the Internet unless a ransom was paid. After the data theft, the attackers infected the Colonial Pipeline IT network with ransomware affecting many computer systems.

🌐 What could have caused the data breach?

According to experts, a Colonial Pipeline employee likely used the same password for their VPN in another location. That password was somehow compromised as part of a different data breach.

💻DoS/DDoS attacks flood systems, servers, or networks with traffic to disrupt the regular traffic of a targeted server. As a result, the system is unable to fulfill genuine requests.

💉A Structured Query Language (SQL) injection is a web security vulnerability that allows an attacker to interfere with the queries that an application makes to its database. Thus, it will enable an attacker to view data they cannot usually extract.
