Starting as an online project at the end of 2019, the fledgling producer spent 2020 working with different styles of v***rwave and sampled dance music. They've spent the past year playing live shows in New York and Louisiana, fine tuning their rave-ready music. Luxury Noise's new album does not stray too far from the blissful lo-fi house and cinematic synth work of his previous release "Second Light" but this time around it incorporates a wider sonic palette of breakbeats and nostalgic instrumentation that pulls from early 2000s IDM, 90s jungle, and 80s house.

The europhic guitar lines of his previous release are replaced with bubbling synth melodies ("feelitmakeit"), wordless pitch-manipulated vocal chops ("Devotional") and saxophone ("onmymind", "Threads"). The melodies are still surrounded by warm pads and reverberating sound design but the rhythms bring a new diversity to twelve song tracklist not seen in his previous work.

Hello People of the Plaza! Yesterday we dropped a surprise release from our friend and longtime labelmate 𝘿𝘼𝙍𝙄𝙀𝙉 𝙎𝙃𝙄𝙀𝙇𝘿𝙎 👔 He is back with a new digital-only album called "A/B" and if you wanna skip my ramblings, you can scroll down for Free Download codes in the graphic or on Download Code Manager!

After completing his series of 7 albums celebrating the various years of the 1990's before Y2K fervor and aesthetics took over culture, Portland via Seattle producer Darien Shields is back with a new collection of songs. Eschewing samples that defined his previous albums, this new release "A/B" is a collection of lo-fi pop and bedroom songs with a distinctly Pacific Northwest haze.

Taking inspiration from the v***rwave tracks he laid his vocals over on previous albums, these pocket tunes feel like they are dug out of a synth pop and hypnagogic treasure chest hidden in the attic. With melodic references to classic pop ("Pillow Princess") and retro dance music, the album takes an intimate approach to churning techno ("Fire Sale"), lo-fi house ("Step To") and ambient IDM ("Y Filter"), all captured to 4-track cassette. The closest point of comparison might be the works of Owen Ashworth aka Casiotone for the Painfully Alone and artists from the early 2010s bedroom pop movement on Orchid Tapes. The homespun songs and instrumental explorations are stripped down to their core and bathed in warm tape hiss... 📼 📻 🔊

These Pastel Swirl tapes are individually disassembled and dipped for a unique look on each side. It’s been a fun, albeit laborious, experience making these and reflecting on my time in the v***rwave scene 🥹

While the first two editions were “self-released”, I launched Pacific Plaza Records in Summer 2018 as a Mini CD Only label with WAVRACE.64 leading the charge. (Fun Fact: Dos Pinos and vcr classique were also part of the first Mini CD releases on PPR as well)

The success I had with this release encouraged me to bring my skills from my old label/booking company ( for those interested) over into the v***rwave world. After opening up the label to cassette releases in 2019, it kept growing and growing…

I’m pleased to have this iconic release back on tape- I hope everyone who wants to own a little slice of our history can grab one over onBandcamp. Thanks for the support these past five years, and let’s keep it going for at least 5 more 😂

The cassettes have a special edit with added sound effects ripped from the game, extended edits, and a more immersive/cohesive vibe suitable for deep listening! The album still has that lofi charm but holds its own next to other properly mastered albums.

Portland producer patchnotes returns with his sophomore album "Endless Surrender", delivering a kaleidoscope of emotions across his signature cinematic soundscapes. His new album refines his blissful sepia-toned electronic music into a finely tuned machine of crescendoing synthesizers, washes of ambient haze and soaring glitched vocal melodies. The pulsing rhythm never strays far from the tectonic center of the album, like a heartbeat that unifies each track into a greater whole. While the album's hi-fi sonic palette veers more toward synthwave and stately v***rwave, the tenderness and grandiosity of his production harkens back to post rock and maximalist indie rock of the 2000s.

The album also feature collaborations from friends new and old- spoken word by Kyla Hall and an uptempo dance track with Luxury Noise 🎛️

The stereophonic detail and romantic glissando of patchnotes' carefully crafted sounds, go beyond the lo-fi aesthetics of ***rwave or .
