Earlier this afternoon, Dr. Ken Collins announced that he will retire at the end of June. Here's what he had to share:
Dear Lake Stevens School District families and community members,
As the new year unfolds, I am reaching out with news that marks both an end and a beginning. After 40 years of service in education, I have made the decision to retire at the end of this school year.
Over these years, I have had the privilege of watching generations of students grow, learn, and achieve remarkable things. The energy, enthusiasm, and potential of our students have been a joy and inspiration.
I am grateful for the trust and support you, as families, have shown me. Your involvement and commitment to our schools have played an incredible role in creating a nurturing and effective learning environment for our students.
As I prepare to step into this new chapter, I do so with immense gratitude for having had the opportunity to serve this community. Rest assured, the transition will be smooth, and the focus on providing high-quality education for our children will remain unwavering. Our Board of Directors is finalizing a superintendent search process, and details will be shared in the coming weeks.
Thank you for being an integral part of my journey. Your children have truly enriched my life and career.
Sincerely,
Ken Collins, Ed.D.

“It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve the people of the 38th Legislative District and our entire state,” McCoy said. “When I first came to the Legislature in 2003 as a member of the House of Representatives, I was humbled to represent such warm and vibrant people in Everett, Marysville and Tulalip. Through changes in committees, leadership roles, and even chambers over the course of my legislative career, it was always an immense privilege to represent my neighbors. I am deeply grateful for that privilege.”
McCoy Passed away today 6/6/23.
