“PLS READ THIS STORY & join our random act of kindness 🙏🏽 I tend to have a judgment about anyone who's standing on the streets with signs asking for money. I had pulled up to Trader Joe's to the sound of loud music coming from somewhere in the parking lot. As I was walking into the store, I saw a man playing an accordion with a sign saying he's jobless, has two kids, and needs help with rent and food. My first thoughts were, "he's trying to pull a fast one, does he really have two kids? I doubt it." Fast forward to me checking out at Trader Joe's and the man at the register says to me as I'm paying, "you know that music out there is so soothing, I've heard that guy for years as a musician in the community and he's very good." And I said, "wait so you know of him? Does he really have 2 kids?" And the man behind the register said, "Yes, he's legitimate, he really does have 2 kids and he's an immigrant just trying to make a better life."
As I was walking to my car, all I could think is "here's this guy just trying to offer what he can to the public and asking for help, and I’ve got a problem with that.” 😭 The kicker is… that’s no different than me with my outdoor yoga classes. I'm teaching yoga to the public and asking for help to make my ends meet too for @onelovemovementorg.
I'm so grateful to the man behind the register for saying something. I hadn't said a thing about the musician so how amazing that this was the only thing he said to me while I was paying for my groceries. It was too perfect and the lesson I needed. THANK YOU.
Please join me this Sat. for a yoga class that's in support of the musician from the Trader Joe's parking lot!! I have his Venmo and want to surprise him with a big chunk of money for his rent and food for his family. And you know... that musician spent the day performing in the parking lot. I got my groceries at around 10am and just happened to drive by again around 430pm and HE WA
