DGM - Endless - (9/10) - Frontiers Music srl

I remember receiving an earlier album from DGM as a random assignment, and I also remember how impressed I was with their musicianship and their style, and I remain so today. They aren’t just another Progressive band with AOR tendencies…they are seasoned, experienced musicians and this is yet an...

Rvkkvs - Antithesis of Prosperity - (8/10) - Grindhead Records

First, let me just make the comment that this style is not for me. The music is on the extreme end of the Metal rainbow. However, I can recognize talent when I hear it, and these guys have it. They are ferocious, energetic, and able to cut and pivot on…

Fans Of The Dark - Video - (7/10) - Frontiers Music srl

I don’t mind the “pink and fluffy” at all, and I found the album to be a great revival of a sound that was so important in my youth. It’s hard to create original music in this genre, but FANS OF THE DARK put their own stamp on things and…

Bedsore - Dreaming the Strife for Love - (8/10) - 20 Buck Spin

This was an unusual album in many ways. The only real ode to Death Metal is in the vocals, and some harder elements in the music. The sound was wide open for me, and they made some very strong steps forward into the varied and sometimes odd world of Progressive…

Winding Road - Sweden - Fill My Sails - (8/10) - Pride & Joy Music

Winding Road was found in 2018 by Jan Hedlund (Coastline) and Magnus Åkerlund (Blender).Having played in numerous bands in different genres of music ,with extensive touring of Sweden before, their first and foremost was their love for AOR/Melodic Rock. Winding Road brought in Jonas Tyskagen (Domino...

SteelCity - Reverence - (7/10) - Frontiers Music srl

Steel City was initially intended as a solo project by founder member Mike Floros, emerging from Youngstown Ohio “The Steel City”, the solo project then turned full circle into a band, with current members Roy Cathey & Anthony White (Cold Sweat), touring and studio musician Jason Cornwell (Eric ...

Ulcerate - Cutting the Throat of God - (9/10) - Debemur Morti Productions

This album dives headfirst into a soundscape drenched in darkness, despair, and unrelenting anger. The darkness here is not just atmospheric; it’s almost oppressive, crafted with such precision that the weight feels palpable. Despair winds through every song like a venomous thread, relentless and ...

Infirmum - From the Depths I Cried - (4/10) - Inverse Records

INFIRMUM is a Symphonic Extreme Metal band from Finland. Amazingly, they have eight members fueling their sound. Their latest album here titled “From the Depths I Cried” has seven lengthy songs. “Pact” is first. The sounds is slow, and somewhat grand, and although I like the vocals, they are...

The Mist From The Mountains - Portal - The Gathering of Storms - (5/10) - Independent

Overall, the musicianship was excellent, but the songwriting, inconsistent. The band seems better at the gentler elements then the straight up aggression and sting of Black Metal. There are some memorable moments on the album, but too much of it blurs together for me.

Kvledstimer - Scripture of the Woods - (5/10) - Alte Seelen Records

While this wasn’t a bad album per se, it didn’t push the boundaries of the genre much. Instead, it stayed try to the FWOBM sounds where the genre started. For that reason, it was just a mediocre album for me.

Vosforis - Cosmic Cenotaph - (9/10) - Inner Hell Records

For me, this was an exceptional release, marked by a band who is not afraid to explore their own vision, while still staying true to the roots of the genre. The use of keys, guitar solos, and a hardened Industrial edge are the perfect accompaniments to their original, detailed, weighted…

Live Report and Photography by Shea Higgerson

HATEBREED celebrated 30 years as one of the most influential hardcore metal bands with a huge tour across the U.S. and support from CARCASS, HARM'S WAY, and CRYPTA. This was a tour for the moshers and fans of all things heavy, and the Diamond Ballroom in Oklahoma City was more than happy to welcome....

Where's My Bible - KAVE - (8/10) - Inverse Records

Although the album stays true to many of the original tenants of both Black Metal, and Melodic Death Metal, the seasoned band (at least, they sound like they have been together for years) was able to work in many other elements to both surprise the listener, and delight the listener.…

A Dead Poem - Abstract Existence - (8/10) - Personal Records

Overall, this was an excellent album to listen to. MeloDeath and Doom have been combined before, but not quite as well as A DEAD POEM did here. I love the subtle bite of the vocals, and their whispered wrath, as well as the low end, meaty bass notes. Restraint is…
