Hadopelagyal - Haematophoryktos - (3/10) - Amor Fati Productions

Take a look at the length of the songs…they are nearly identical, and so is the sound. It’s unfortunate, because as I mentioned above, the genre has a lot to offer the fans. I think you can safely skip this album.

Dysylumn - Abstraction - (9/10) - Signal Rex

This album sounds like a collision between infernal fire and the void of deep space, where the raw, scorched essence of Black Metal meets the cold, infinite reach of the cosmos. It’s a paradox made audible: visions of Hell twisted into sound, but refracted through the lens of starlight and…

NeWBReeD - OutLaw - (9/10) - SELFMADEGOD RECORDS

It seems as if NEWBREED re-wrote the book on how much music can be both comforting and jarring at the same time. They play with a fierce abandon…the kind that throws convention out the window along with the bathwater. Yet, each move seems calculated, amidst a sea of whatever might…

The Old Dead Tree - London Sessions - (8/10) - Season of Mist

It’s somewhat difficult to get a vibe from an album through just four songs, but the emotions of the music hit me the most. For me, it was like Modern Metal with Goth leanings more than anything else, but genre labels be damned. There is just something special about French…

Nihili Locus - "Nihil Morte Certium" - (8/10) -My Kingdom Music

“Nihil Morte Certium” has been 24 years in the making. It documents the trajectory of NIHILI LOCUS as well as the eras of extreme metal which they were not only a part of but helped to shape.

Fauna - "Ochre & Ash" - (7/10) - Lupus Lounge

If I think on that album cover and I close my eyes and just let the music take me, I can smell the smoke rolling off the fire, feel the sting of the night frost, sense the ancients in the air.

The Devil's Trade - Nincs Szennyezetlen Szép - (8/10) - Pelagic Records

One of the things I appreciate most about the album is a deep darkness and tension that runs through every song. It is held just below the surface and out of view, but it is real. Mostly depressive, but sometimes defiant, the album will hold your interest.

Omnivide - Arise (10/10) - Seek and Strike

There is no doubt in my mind; I really like what OMNIVIDE does on “Arise”. This certainly is Death Metal from start to finish, but the way they have been able io incorporate the Progressive Metal inspirations, rhythms, breaks and parts is nothing less than impressive.
