During a secret visit of Vegan Mahanakhon วีแกนมหานคร, we taste-tested one of Bangkok’s newest vegan restaurants and were blown away by the taste, variety, and veganification of hard-to-find dishes.
Located a 15-minute walk from Wat Arun, this century-old teak house venue allows only 85 visitors at a time to preserve its integrity.
We especially loved the Assorted Thai Appetizer Platter that included vegan appetizers such as vegan pandan-fried “chicken” and cho muang (Thai flower dumpling). The red curry with lychee and pineapple was a spicy tropical delight, as was the pla duk foo (vegan crispy fluffy fish with green mango).
The restaurant has a rotating seasonal menu featuring different regional cuisines, with Southern cuisine taking the stage at the moment with a medley of greens in their khao yum (rice salad).
Sweet tooths will love their desserts such as the Thai peanut cake, sohm-choon (fruit desserts on sugared ice) and khanom ko (sweet coconut dumplings in coconut milk).
Add Vegan Mahanakorn to your post-Wat Arun itinerary!
