It’s sea turtle week and I’m just here to remind you to reduce your single plastic use and to keep our oceans clean. I took this shot right after Memorial Day weekend and trust me it wasn’t the only fresh trash I found underwater. The turtles and I appreciate your efforts🤙🏽

Did you know this about sea turtles?
They will sleep in tide pools to rest without having to fight the tides and the current, and also to be safe from any predators 🤙🏽

Did you know Turtles have great significance in Hawaiian Culture?
In Hawaiian mythology, sea turtles (Honu) are a symbol of strength, wisdom, good luck and longevity! These are highly valued in Hawaiian culture!
Seeing one of these magnificent creatures on our dives make it such a special experience for everyone!

Just sea turtle things…🐢🐠
Here’s a hawksbill sea turtle having a little snack while fish swim around. It was great to see a hawksbill as I don’t see this species as often as the green sea turtle.

It is a salp. Salps are semi-transparent barrel-shaped marine animals that move through the water by contracting bands of muscles which ring the body. When found washed up on shores they are often mistaken as jellyfish. The contracting muscles draw water in the front of the test and out the rear.
Salps feed by filtering plankton and algae and move using an incredibly efficient jet propulsion system, one of the most efficient examples of jet propulsion in the animal kingdom.

With heavy hearts we report “Silver”, the magnificent adult, female, green sea turtle found drowning, entangled in a crab trap line has passed away.
The incredible team at The Turtle Hospital worked tirelessly to save her life. Blood chemistry at intake revealed Silver’s organs were shutting down and radiographs showed fluid in her lungs.
We may not be able to save every sea turtle, but we make every effort. Thank you for all of your prayers and support. RIP Silver 💔🐢😞
