will begin playing Taps each night at 9 p.m. as a way to memorialize and recognize those who lost their lives in the line of duty.
As we continue this tradition, we invite the local community to join us in a moment of reflection to commemorate the fallen troops of both the U.S. and U.K. as we approach the 80th anniversary of D-Day and other major events of WWII.
Taps is a distinctive somber and emotional bugle melody that lasts one minute and has been in use since the American Civil War.
Taps is used at all U.S. military funerals, wreath-layings, memorials and as a lights-out signal to service members at night.
In consideration of the local community, some speakers have been turned off to reduce potential noise impact.
