The bus circuits that bring all the sounds together are the heart of every famous analog mixing console. I am very excited to have added a classic Neve 80 series mix bus to my setup. I started mixing "in the box" earlier than most and I have always been skeptical of a "hybrid" configuration using analog gear. But I have to say, this sounds really great!

Thanks very much to everyone who sent a note or visited over the past couple of weeks. I was fortunate to be able to stay at home for the last few months of Dad's life and to have one last good visit with my brother before we lost him as well. I would not trade anything for that time.

In other news, it's back to work for me! I am happy to be working with my long-time friend (since Middle School...) Donny over at The Afterdark Studio mixing and mastering records. He is non-stop and we have finished nearly 30 records in about as many days. Also, my company VSi is out helping venues get back in shape after being shuttered for COVID. I am troubleshooting and repairing A/V systems as well as doing training and team-building. It really is good to see the music community getting back to full swing.

My big brother was the coolest. He always had a great stereo system and he was the first person I knew to have a CD player. Every time we were together, we took time to listen to music and he introduced me to a lot of good music. Two weeks ago I visited Dan and his husband Darrin. My niece Emily, her husband Josh, and my nephew Ethan were also there and for 6 solid hours, we laughed and listened to music. Today, Dan gave up a years long struggle with a broken body and left us for a new home. Farewell for now, Brother!

The holiday rush is ramping up! If you are looking for shows to see, in December there are 2 shows at the Grand Theatre (Atlanta Pops and Christmas Back Home w/Scott Thompson) and a community show at Cartersville High School (Ahmad Hall & Friends w/ Etowah Jazz) . I KNOW they will sound great! (Wink Wink) Speaking of sounding great, if you are part of an event this season and you find yourself having difficulty with your A/V systems, please reach out! Unlike some large companies, VSi (my company) keeps its overhead low which means I can offer great service at a fiercely competitive price!

My company is called VSi - Venue Support Inc. It's tiny - as in just me at the moment (although I am looking to change that). What do I do? I answer the phone and provide a great customer experience. Who are the customers? In short, venues! Here are some examples of the calls I get. When national touring acts play a one off show and a venue needs someone who can handle their audio needs. When theatre companies require Broadway style mixing of high count wireless mics or other special needs. When integrators need to hire specialized skill sets for projects such as 2110 video systems in large sports venues. When recording studios do system upgrades or want to improve their workflows for a better customer experience or need support for DAWs such as Pro Tools. When churches want to create workflows that are more accessible to volunteer staff or to train them. There are more and more uses for production equipment and technologies every day. So, if you find yourself needing support in your particular venue, please reach out! Between myself and my network of partnering companies, I am certain we can help you get to where you want to be.

One of the fun parts of my job is getting to hear so many different types of music. This past weekend was a treat with the tight harmonies and completely live instruments of the Sons of the Pioneers. Check out the upcoming concert series.

It was a whirlwind of a weekend. I was fortunate to get to walk through Blackbird studios and then up the road a bit to get to work. We put 19 artists across the stage in just over 2 hours. Maybe I will get some boots next time!

We did a big upgrade to the control room that drives the video board. I was onsite yesterday to support the crew for their first football game. Smooth sailing.
