Mizonews.Net went online on March 17, 2012, as not-for-profit initiative, with the believe the world can better understand the Mizo world in English. The need to have a professionally managed pure English news portal with primary focus on Mizoram and the Mizo tribes who spread across India was felt long ago, but for some reason or the other it did not materialised until the launched of this online
news portal which becomes the first among the websites (in English) owned by members of the Chin-Kuki-Mizo community to be listed in Google News category. Since then, besides exclusive news it published news from citizen journalists who have been working together to highlight various issues on Mizoram and other Mizo news across India. It also published national and international news from paid news syndicates. By 2013, the uniqueness of the humble project has been recognised by officials both those in the government and private sector who want know what is happening in Mizoram and Mizo world. A lot more needs to be done to tell our stories for others to see that Mizoram and other areas inhabited by Mizo tribes have a lot to offer. It is expected that with greater exposure, 'Zoram Khawvel' can expect a lot more than what it already had achieved.
