Chrysalis Records is one of Britain’s leading independent labels, responsible for shaping the music industry with a catalogue of timeless hits and era-defining songs. Co-founded by Chris Wright CBE and Terry Ellis in 1968, Chrysalis Records went on to enjoy tremendous success in the UK and internationally, launching and developing the careers of countless artists, before it was sold to EMI in 1989
. Entering a new phase, Chrysalis Records has been bought by Blue Raincoat Music, an agreement which sees original owner Chris Wright reunited with the legendary label as Non-Executive Chairman. Led by industry heavyweights Jeremy Lascelles and Robin Millar, Blue Raincoat Music aims to bring back the true spirit of independent music to the business, revitalising Chrysalis Record’s impressive catalogue, whilst enhancing it for the digital age and offering a new home for established artists. Not long to go now for this year’s Record Store Day UK Black Friday on Friday 24th November when we’ll have a selection of special limited exclusive releases inc Ultravox ‘Quartet - Steven Wilson mix’ on 2CD & 2LP Clear vinyl.
Quartet was Ultravox's third album with Midge Ure on vocals, which followed two hugely successful albums, Vienna and Rage In Eden The previous albums were produced by German producer Conny Plank while for this they looked at George Martin to take the helm. Featuring four fabulous UK Top 40 singles, Reap The Wild Wind, We Came To Dance, Visions In Blue and Hymn. This new 2023 Stereo Mix has been undertaken by renowned musician and producer Steven Wilson, along with it an exclusive to this release, his instrumental mixes of the album.
This Steven Wilson mix (Porcupine Tree) of Ultravox's Quartet album was featured in the recent deluxe edition box set. Making it's vinyl debut here, along with a previously unreleased instrumental version of the album (not featured in the box set).
